Isaac VelandoApril 2024: started with a frantic chase to Mount Vernon, TX where we found an opening in the cloud cover to witness totality. Then we followed it up with a screening of 1978’s Dawn of the Dead at Alamo Drafthouse where they had an excellent themed menu. I think this may have been the first time I had the delicious hot honey pepperoni combo.<br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/memories?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#memories</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/memory?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#memory</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/foodie?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#foodie</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/food?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#food</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/eclipse?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#eclipse</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/eclipse2024?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#eclipse2024</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/houston?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#houston</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/movie?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#movie</a>
trisweb<p>Memorable moment number 3: SO MANY CELESTIAL EVENTS! It began with the <a href="https://m.trisweb.com/tags/Eclipse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Eclipse</span></a> in April, where I traveled to Vermont to my parents' house, which was right in the path of totality, as was able to watch with my whole fam. It was truly awe inspiring and I still look back on it and smile.</p><p><a href="https://m.trisweb.com/tags/TotalSolarEclipse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TotalSolarEclipse</span></a> <a href="https://m.trisweb.com/tags/Eclipse2024" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Eclipse2024</span></a></p>

ShadowPlay<p>I cut up a pair of eclipse glasses, and used one of the "lenses" over an old digital camera (that had a damaged light sensor from the 2017 eclipse). The first photo is untouched, the second one modified to compensate for the camera not knowing what to do with the moon shadow.<br><a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/Eclipse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Eclipse</span></a> <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/Eclipse2024" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Eclipse2024</span></a> <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/MoonShadow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MoonShadow</span></a></p>

Astro Hawk (Ian Kluft) ✅🚀🛰️<p>Wikipedia has a section of its solar eclipse article on viewing partial solar eclipses. Using a tree as a projector is fascinating and free. Astro Hawk (Ian Kluft) ✅🚀🛰️<p>If you can't get to the path of totality for Monday's <a href="https://spacey.space/tags/TotalSolarEclipse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TotalSolarEclipse</span></a>, there will be a partial eclipse across North America. (graphic by Fred Espenak made before he retired from NASA) Do not look at the sun.😎 Even if you don't have eclipse glasses, either make an eclipse projector or find bits of sunlight in the shadow of a tree, which project images of the eclipse. <a href="https://spacey.space/tags/Eclipse2024" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Eclipse2024</span></a> <a href="https://spacey.space/tags/astronomy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>astronomy</span></a></p>
Astro Hawk (Ian Kluft) ✅🚀🛰️<p>"What happens if it's cloudy for the April 8 solar eclipse?" by @SpaceDotCom / @JoeRaoWeather - Possible to use cloud cover to observe movement in arrival and departure of the Moon's shadow. Observe cooler temperature &amp; darkness. <a href="https://www.space.com/what-if-it-is-cloudy-for-total-solar-eclipse-april-8-2024" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">space.com/what-if-it-is-cloudy</span><span class="invisible">-for-total-solar-eclipse-april-8-2024</span></a> <a href="https://spacey.space/tags/Eclipse2024" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Eclipse2024</span></a> <a href="https://spacey.space/tags/astronomy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>astronomy</span></a></p>
Astro Hawk (Ian Kluft) ✅🚀🛰️<p>"Eclipse Clouds" by @XKCD comic - The <a href="https://spacey.space/tags/weather" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>weather</span></a> can very much control what kind of <a href="https://spacey.space/tags/eclipse" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>eclipse</span></a> you see. The comic suggests if you get clouded out, positive spin calls it a multi-layer eclipse with more than one thing blocking the sun.🤔 <a href="https://xkcd.com/2915/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">xkcd.com/2915/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a> <a href="https://spacey.space/tags/Eclipse2024" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Eclipse2024</span></a> <a href="https://spacey.space/tags/astronomy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>astronomy</span></a></p>
