Don’t have anything against wayland but I miss the variety of window managers — I used xmonad for years (probably 2007–12) and I find I still prefer its tiling model to sway/i3’s.

Still some issues to sort out with my xorg config though.

BujakiewiczFranco
This next week starts the winter vacations for me. Now I have two weeks to perform a functional programming training, in a new operative system and environment, NixOS and Xmonad tiling WM. It was a mind opening and learning experience, even I was choose it for the trends, I don't regret for it. But now I want to relearn and return to a tiling window manager, is time to say goodbye. Balise
Current/past users of #xmonad, do you have plans to move to "something else supported by Wayland"? If yes, what and what is/was your decision process?

One of my main requirements (besides the obvious "automatic tiling of windows on each workspace") is the ability to have two different workspaces on my two monitors, as well as a way to setup a small tray of icons.

Less time than it took to make tea.

My project is to pair it with a battery and a 16" touch screen to make a tablet for reading music and bande dessinée. I can't use i3 because it is
so Limited. It is perhaps easier, but I don't know. I didn't know Haskell but I did it anyway. I've been on #Xmonad for more than a decade and I have yet to see anything better.
i3 is a backup I use while setting up my xmonad that I can't wait to get out of. Xmonad is like the emacs of window managers. Of course there is Exwm. But that might take you a minute or two.

John Goerzen
Anybody have Wayland-compatibile tiling compositor (WM) recommenddations? I'd been using #xmonad for years, but it doesn't work with Wayland. #KDE #Plasma with #bismuth was good for me, but Bismuth doesn't work with latest Plasma. I've really not found anything good with Gnome, and the options like #sway and #hyprland require a bunch of time to configure and don't do things like remembering what to do when I plug in different external monitors like KDE does. I appreciate KDE's automation.
