Mason Pines<p>The more I use <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/debian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>debian</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/trixie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>trixie</span></a>, the more I miss <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/debian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>debian</span></a> <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/bookworm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bookworm</span></a> </p><p><a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/bookworm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bookworm</span></a> was more stable as there are some known bugs in various <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/xfce" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>xfce</span></a> components, leading to segfaults in things like <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/thunar" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>thunar</span></a> </p><p>But also the fact that the way to keep <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/qt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>qt</span></a> and <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/gtk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gtk</span></a> apps looking similar worked so much better in <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/bookworm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bookworm</span></a> </p><p>The same code compiled on <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/trixie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>trixie</span></a> leads to issues with libraries or so files, and some applications just ignore settings via the likes of <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/qt5ct" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>qt5ct</span></a> or <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/qt6ct" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>qt6ct</span></a> </p><p>I accept that I run a slightly more complex setup than a default install, as I've a few applications that are now no longer present in <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/trixie" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>trixie</span></a>, plus some that were not in <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/bookworm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bookworm</span></a> either.<br>But in any case, it just feels that the mixed <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/qt5" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>qt5</span></a> and <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/qt6" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>qt6</span></a> setup, plus changes to styles and <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/kvantum" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>kvantum</span></a>, leads to more problems in the latest stable release than in the previous stable release.</p><p>Of course things move on, but it's frustrating.</p><p>For now, docker containers & <a href="https://universeodon.com/tags/distrobox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>distrobox</span></a> for 4 key apps allows them to run and be correctly themed.</p>
