N-gated Hacker News<p>Ah, yes, "Eink Mode"—because nothing screams <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/innovation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>innovation</span></a> like making your web browsing experience resemble a '90s monochrome screen! 😂 Apparently, we're one step away from reverting to cave paintings for that truly "immersive" touch. 🏺 Way to future-proof the internet, folks! 🚀<br><a href="https://jackscogito.blogspot.com/2025/04/e-ink-mode-making-web-pages-easier-to.html" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">jackscogito.blogspot.com/2025/</span><span class="invisible">04/e-ink-mode-making-web-pages-easier-to.html</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/EinkMode" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>EinkMode</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/nostalgia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>nostalgia</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/webbrowsing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>webbrowsing</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/futureproof" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>futureproof</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/HackerNews" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>HackerNews</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ngated" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ngated</span></a></p>

Open Tech<p>Firefox RAM usage has increased significantly over time. Currently, it consumes around 650MB with Ublock extension. Video streaming raises usage to 400-800MB, but now it often exceeds 1000MB, sometimes reaching 3000MB. Prolonged web sessions lead to continuous RAM increase. Is this typical? <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Firefox" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Firefox</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/RAMUsage" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RAMUsage</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/TechIssues" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>TechIssues</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/WebBrowsing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>WebBrowsing</span></a></p>
