We know that TikTok has an option to add auto-generated subtitles ("captions") to videos, so it might be folks:<ul><li>uploading their videos to TikTok;</li><li>downloading their video from Tiktok;</li><li>re-uploading video elsewhere with embedded subtitles.</li></ul>It doesn't help that short-form videos don't have good native options for adding your own subtitles... or at least didn't when we last did any.However, we entirely agree that more folks should be made aware of the text generation option within Subtitle Edit under Video > Audio to text (Whisper).We've done a few few posts on it before, using the <a href="https://cultofshiv.wtf/tags/SubtitleEdit" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#SubtitleEdit</a> hashtag.

SleepyCattenJust watched a short by AuDHD content creator Olivia Lutfallah, entitled <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikXmbY0xVxo" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">"This is why ADHD is so hard"</a> and, ooooof, did we feel it 🥺The video sadly lacks subtitles, so we ran it through the Audio To Text (Whisper) functionality in <a href="https://www.nikse.dk/subtitleedit" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">Subtitle Edit</a> to generate a transcript for accessibility purposes:<blockquote>One of the hardest parts about having ADHD isn't a lack of talent, but the lack of consistency.It's knowing that you could be amazing at so many different things, but never managing to stick to one long enough to show it.People call you smart, but your thoughts are so far ahead that your mouth just can't keep up.It's a constant loop of forgetting, restarting, and chasing a finish line that just keeps on moving.Even friendships take a hit.
