Serge from Babka<p>I've been processing the Steven Colbert antisemitism and the John Oliver antisemitism.</p><p>If you haven't been paying attention, Oliver's coverage of the war in Gaza way back in 2023 had elements of antisemitism, and failed the 3D test. <a href="https://wisela.org/john-oliver-fails-natan-sharanskys-3d-test/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">wisela.org/john-oliver-fails-n</span><span class="invisible">atan-sharanskys-3d-test/</span></a></p><p>Colbert, on the other hand, made a very different type of monologue. Colbert, who does his show from NYC, talked about the campus protests in April 2024. Colbert's antisemitism was more subtle. Instead of attacking Jews, Colbert erased them entirely while also moving the goal post.</p><p>He said "As long as the protests are peaceful, they should be allowed to continue.". The word "peaceful" is doing a lot of heavy lifting there. A protest can be hateful and also peaceful. A KKK march in which no one gets hurt is hateful and wrong, but could, through this lens, be seen as "peaceful".</p><p><a href="https://mashable.com/video/stephen-colbert-student-protests" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">mashable.com/video/stephen-col</span><span class="invisible">bert-student-protests</span></a></p><p><a href="https://babka.social/tags/Antisemitism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Antisemitism</span></a> <a href="https://babka.social/tags/Colbert" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Colbert</span></a> <a href="https://babka.social/tags/StevenColbert" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>StevenColbert</span></a> <a href="https://babka.social/tags/JohnOliver" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>JohnOliver</span></a> <br> <br>1/</p>
