Margaret Sefton<p>She thought of certain days at work as being bathed in a certain honey glow of light, those days when the Florida sun, raining down intensely through the window at the convenience store, merged with the roar of cars at the racetrack across the street. Individual voices--like her peppery, squawking, bossy gossiping coworker's--melted away in a wash of hot, bright, honey chaos, and she was free from the responsibility of listening, the burden of even caring. Noam writes<p>The grumpy old wizard stepped into the crowded tavern.</p><p>“Move!” he barked. There was blue light dancing between his fingers.</p><p>The crowd parted: orcs, goblins and barbarians left him a clear path to the bar.</p><p>“Let me get you the house special,” said the savvy bartender.</p><p>She presented him with a steaming mug that let off a pleasant scent. “Why don’t you sit down, take a load off?” she said.</p><p>Two regulars hastily left a table and the wizard sat down and tentatively tasted the drink.</p><p>“Did you give him extra strong ale?” asked a goblin.</p><p>“No, I reckon he’d be a mean drunk. Just a mild sedative.
