Andy Piper<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.social/@Gargron" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>Gargron</span></a></span> it's funny you mention this, I actually mentioned Last.FM in one of my answers after my <a href="https://macaw.social/tags/RubyWorld" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RubyWorld</span></a> talk! I've been using it for many years. It seemed to have a heyday about 15 years ago. I still use it across various listening services.</p>
S.H.@Haloはいいぞ<p>そういや <a href="https://gamelinks007.net/tags/RubyWorld" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RubyWorld</span></a> ConferenceでMatzのサインが当たったよー</p>
Andy Piper<p>I should have done more research when I spoke about Mastodon client apps in my <a href="https://macaw.social/tags/RubyWorld" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RubyWorld</span></a> talk, I mentioned that SoraSNS is made in Japan... of course, so are Feather, Subway Tooter, Dawn, ZonePane, TootDesk and maybe even more that I missed mentioning. I love the diverse range of apps that are available for different cultures and preferences! Thank you to the developer community in Japan! -&gt; <a href="https://joinmastodon.org/apps" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">joinmastodon.org/apps</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p>
moro<p>今年の <a href="https://ruby.social/tags/RubyWorld" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RubyWorld</span></a> Conference も楽しかったです。講演者の方々はじめ、皆様ありがとうございました!Rubyが元気で良い年だった。また来年。</p>
Andi :miyazaki:<p>Special greetings to the Translation Staff <a href="https://famichiki.jp/tags/RubyWorld" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RubyWorld</span></a></p>
Andy Piper<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mstdn.jp/@tta49" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>tta49</span></a></span> I was very interested and excited to learn about mruby/c and Picoruby and ITOC at <a href="https://macaw.social/tags/RubyWorld" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RubyWorld</span></a> - I did not find out how they drive the RGB LEDs but I will have to learn about this.</p>
Andy Piper<p>Listening to Nickle from Taiwan talking about the relationship between Kaohsiung city and Ruby City Matsue - lovely to see the community connecting in this way <a href="https://macaw.social/tags/RubyWorld" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RubyWorld</span></a></p>
Andy Piper<p>I noticed that a lot of the speakers at <a href="https://macaw.social/tags/RubyWorld" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RubyWorld</span></a> use presentation software called Rabbit. Adding to my list to investigate! <a href="https://rabbit-shocker.org/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">rabbit-shocker.org/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p>
Andy Piper<p>The fediwall I set up for <a href="https://macaw.social/tags/RubyWorld" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RubyWorld</span></a> tracks that hashtag and also <a href="https://macaw.social/tags/RubyPrize" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RubyPrize</span></a> and <a href="https://macaw.social/tags/RubyWeek" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RubyWeek</span></a> across a number of instances (maybe I am missing some important ones, you can check the config file in the URL). It could also be set to post all of the posts from a specific account. Maybe next year there would be an official RubyWorld conference account in the fediverse, sharing the news about the 30th anniversary Ruby release that would be about to be launched… 🙂</p>
Andy Piper<p>Nothing but admiration for the interpreters who cover tech conferences. So much lingo and terminology, and also as speakers we are not always all the most concise and on-point! Thank you to the translation team at <a href="https://macaw.social/tags/RubyWorld" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RubyWorld</span></a>!</p>
Andy Piper<p>This has been something I have experienced at <a href="https://macaw.social/tags/RubyWorld" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RubyWorld</span></a> - the warmth and love of the community here. <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://ruby.social/@matz" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>matz@ruby.social</span></a></span> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mstdn.jp/@matz" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>matz@mstdn.jp</span></a></span></p>
Andy Piper<p>If you would like to see the conversations at <a href="https://macaw.social/tags/RubyWorld" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RubyWorld</span></a> I made a fediwall for this <a href="https://andyp.url.lol/rw2024" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">andyp.url.lol/rw2024</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p>

Andy Piper<p>Learning about Ruby in the browser. <a href="https://macaw.social/tags/RubyWorld" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RubyWorld</span></a></p>
Andy Piper<p>Observation - the birdsite, under its original name, appears to remain sticky here in Japan despite the relative popularity of federated alternatives, and reported growth of Bluesky. It makes me slightly sad to see Twitter usernames on slides at <a href="https://macaw.social/tags/RubyWorld" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RubyWorld</span></a> 😞 </p><p>Here's how and why I gave it all up and moved on to better things - despite lots of followers, and a long history with the platform. You can do it, too!</p><p><a href="https://andypiper.co.uk/2023/07/31/goodbye-to-my-life-on-twitter-2007-2023/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">andypiper.co.uk/2023/07/31/goo</span><span class="invisible">dbye-to-my-life-on-twitter-2007-2023/</span></a></p>
Andy Piper<p>... also, the sponsors and the attendees here are super friendly and patient with my lack of Japanese - I am very grateful 🙏🏻 <a href="https://macaw.social/tags/RubyWorld" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RubyWorld</span></a></p>
Andy Piper<p>There is some very cool embedded and device stuff going on at <a href="https://macaw.social/tags/RubyWorld" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RubyWorld</span></a>. TIL about PRK firmware for custom keyboards, mRuby-c, PicoRuby, and more. I feel a bit of an interloper with my MicroPython bias - I'll have to check some of this stuff out...</p>
