S is adamant it was their fault, we weren't there obviously. The van driver is from a local company (ironically a garage). They have emailed with photos of the damage to the van and said they will forward quotes once they have them. They are assuming we will pay for the damage. S doesn't have cycling insurance and is under 18. I'm finding it hard to establish what responsibilities we have in this situation, am keen not to pay a huge bill if not necessary and don't want to muddy the water any more than S's quick admission of guilt at the scene may have done (probably not ideal but they were shaken, adrenaline was pumping and by all accounts they do believe they were in the wrong).
