C.<p>Q: So, anything new? What'd you do today?</p><p>A: Oh, dug through menus in a new AV receiver to find its MAC addresses, configured my network DHCP server to give it a static address, and then wrote some iptables rules to keep that address from being able to reach outside the LAN. Pretty standard stuff.</p><p>Looking for a "DO NOT CONNECT THIS MACHINE TO THE INTERNET NO MATTER HOW MUCH IT NAGS" warning sign to print out.</p><p><a href="https://mindly.social/tags/dystopia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>dystopia</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/spying" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>spying</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/telemetry" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>telemetry</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/connected" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>connected</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/SmartDevice" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SmartDevice</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/AV" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AV</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/AVR" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AVR</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/receiver" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>receiver</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/HomeTheatre" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>HomeTheatre</span></a> <a href="https://mindly.social/tags/firewall" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>firewall</span></a></p>

Wintermute_BBS<p>So I finally had the time and motivation to integrate the 2.4 GHz receiver for my <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/V100" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>V100</span></a> <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/freight" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>freight</span></a> <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/train" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>train</span></a> <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/loco" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>loco</span></a> properly into the model.</p><p> I had to adapt the design slightly by using corner plates where a 2x6 plate would be used and I only had those in black color, so I will need to get these in dark red sometime later ...</p><p><a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/LEGO" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>LEGO</span></a> <br><a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/BlueBrixx" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BlueBrixx</span></a> <br><a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/MunichBricks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>MunichBricks</span></a> <br><a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/AFOB" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AFOB</span></a> <br><a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/LGauge" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>LGauge</span></a> <br><a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/trains" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>trains</span></a> <br><a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/receiver" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>receiver</span></a></p>
Wintermute_BBS<p>So I built a simple adapter-cable for a common 9V Li-Ion rechargeable battery (370 mAh) to feed my no-name <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/PowerFunctions" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PowerFunctions</span></a> (2.4GHz) <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/receiver" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>receiver</span></a> and <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/motor" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>motor</span></a>. This saves so much space, I am seriously considering to use this solution instead of the 6x AAA <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/Battery" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Battery</span></a> <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/Box" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Box</span></a> </p><p><a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/NotLego" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>NotLego</span></a><br><a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/BlueBrixx" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BlueBrixx</span></a> <br><a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/Afob" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Afob</span></a> <br><a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/Trains" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Trains</span></a> <br><a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/Motor" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Motor</span></a> <br><a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/Bricks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Bricks</span></a> <br><a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/Lego" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Lego</span></a></p>
Em-squared<p>Shhh. Might've fixed the Sony receiver protector error by resetting it (hold the on button for 5 seconds until it says clearing) . I hope it sticks as I'm not an electronics expert. <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Sony" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Sony</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Receiver" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Receiver</span></a></p>
