Scientific World<p>Explore the sociology of phubbing—why we ignore people for our phones, how it affects relationships, and what it reveals about modern social behavior in a hyperconnected world.<br><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Phubbing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Phubbing</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/SmartphoneEtiquette" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SmartphoneEtiquette</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/PhoneAddiction" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PhoneAddiction</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ScreenCulture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ScreenCulture</span></a><br><a href="https://www.scitechsociety.com/why-we-ignore-people-for-our-phones-the-sociology-of-phubbing/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">scitechsociety.com/why-we-igno</span><span class="invisible">re-people-for-our-phones-the-sociology-of-phubbing/</span></a></p>
Joe B. Wall<p>Whenever I hear people express anxiety about the itchy need to check their phones every 3-5 minutes, I have to wonder where I came from, because I hate to look at my phone and usually only do it to change album/podcast or irritably answer a phone call. Where's the compelling draw of an annoying little pocket computer? Sure, it's nice to be able to check if ants sleep, but what do people hope to find on there every five minutes?</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/doomscrolling" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>doomscrolling</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/phoneaddiction" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>phoneaddiction</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/ludicloops" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>ludicloops</span></a></p>
DaveKaz<p>Was thinking of buying a limited function phone to lower the number of times I pick up my phone to check it but this is less expensive and fixes the problem without a new phone. You could do this without the “Brick” but it helps with making it more difficult to turn blocking off. You may find the Brick a bit $$ but the software is free. <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/iPhone" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>iPhone</span></a> only. <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/attention" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>attention</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/PhoneAddiction" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>PhoneAddiction</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/FOMO" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FOMO</span></a></p><p><a href="https://getbrick.app/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">getbrick.app/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p>
