Martin Fleischmann<p>Ever needed to simplify street networks? I did. And it is a pain. So we joined forces with <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://datasci.social/@anavybor" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>anavybor</span></a></span> and <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://fosstodon.org/@JamesGaboardi" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>JamesGaboardi</span></a></span> and wrote an algorithm that does that for us. And can do for you, as it is available as a Python package called `neatnet`. </p><p>Here's a short blog about it - <a href="https://martinfleischmann.net/simplification-of-street-networks/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">martinfleischmann.net/simplifi</span><span class="invisible">cation-of-street-networks/</span></a></p><p>And here's, not so short preprint - <a href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2504.16198" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">arxiv.org/abs/2504.16198</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p><p>But you probably want the package. petitleptonIt's time for <a class="hashtag" href="https://bdx.town/tag/geopython" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#geopython</a> 2025!
petitleptonBy any chance, anyone around here could put me in touch with the <a class="hashtag" href="https://bdx.town/tag/geopython" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#geopython</a> 2025 organisers? I tried the chat stuff on the website and the dedicated email address but did not get any reply yet. I would like to ask questions about registering my young colleagues as speakers but can't figure out how to do it. Thanks!
