Hey, kids! Did you know that you can open and close milk cartons without needing a stupid plastic piece with a cap?
The plastics industry makes bank off of those stupid plastic tubes. They take eternities to degrade in landfills, and they are too small to excite recyclers (who don't recycle most of what they get, anyway).
Ask an old person how to open cartons without one. No. Old. Really old. Older than Shaq. Reeeallllly old.
Sigh. Ask me.
@steter Yes it's really easy to open cartons without the stupid plastic caps. I never understood the purpose of them.
@old_hippie There is no slightly sour smell from the residue on the part that had the glue on it after pouring some, if it's not wiped. It solved a non-problem, especially in households with a lot of milk drinkers.
I was in the other kind.
"Ew."
"Ew what? There is nothing wrong with the milk."
"It smells funny."
"That's just the carton."
"I don't want it."
That's all I remember of life before the plastic tube and cap. I was the "ew" kid. Milk slides off of the plastic. The roughness of the carton where the glue was is the culprit.
@steter I never noticed any smell or taste from it but I guess that makes sense.
@old_hippie My kid nose was very sensitive to the smell of sour milk, and I was not very good at that "neither seen nor heard" stuff.
