Oh my goodness... a LOT of new people... Welcome!
If you need help with using Mastodon and the Fediverse, have a look at:
It's written for a non-technical audience, and hopefully answers most beginners' questions.
If you're looking for accounts to follow, there are lots of ways to do it summarised here:
If you have any problems, ask me and I'll try to help!
@feditips One problem I have is scrolling with a browser (Firefox). The space bar works OK but sometimes skips part of a toot. The up and down arrows, which should move the feed in smaller increments, are not reliable and often jump you way up in the feed you've already seen so you have to find your place again. If you have or can make a solution for this I'd appreciate it.
Hmm... I can't reproduce that here, I use Firefox too. Which kind of computer do you use?
A couple of related tips you might find helpful:
-There are hotkeys for using Mastodon entirely through a keyboard (More info: https://fedi.tips/using-mastodon-through-a-keyboard/)
-There is a "slow mode" that stops timelines scrolling, this might be a workaround for whatever bug you're experiencing? (More info: https://fedi.tips/what-are-the-local-federated-home-timelines-how-do-i-stop-them-scrolling-too-quickly/)
@feditips BTW it's an HP SSD 17z ca100.
Ah okay. Is it running Windows or Linux?
Okay, I'm on Linux so that makes it tricky for me to try and reproduce the bug :/
Are you able to live with it, or is it being a bit of a dealbreaker?
@feditips Mildly annoying but not a dealbreaker.
Okay, I'm sorry I can't help more. Hopefully it gets fixed in some kind of update!
@feditips Thanks much.
