Cook for Good<p>Here’s a great article on Cory Booker’s astonishing speech in the US Senate that lasted 25 hours and 4 minutes! <br />“What followed was a tour de force of physical stamina. The 55-year-old, who played tight end for Stanford University’s American football team, asked a Senate page to take away his chair so he was not tempted to sit down, which is barred by the Senate rules. The chair could be seen pushed back against a wall. …Booker may also be a great advert for veganism.”</p><p><a href="https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/apr/02/senator-cory-booker-takes-a-stand-speech-donald-trump-25-hours" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">theguardian.com/us-news/2025/a</span><span class="invisible">pr/02/senator-cory-booker-takes-a-stand-speech-donald-trump-25-hours</span></a></p>
Cook for Good<p>Just watched Cory Booker, US Senator and vegan, blast past the record set by racist Senator Strom Thurmond for the longest known speech in the Senate. Senator Booker has been standing and speaking for over 24 hours without a break. As he broke the record, he still looked and sounded good. He’s a big advocate for animal rights and healthy food as well as civil rights and all-around decent behavior. He’s been vegan since 2014. <a href="https://veganism.social/tags/corybooker" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>corybooker</span></a> <a href="https://veganism.social/tags/vegan" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>vegan</span></a></p>
Cook for Good<p>I’m working on a chickpea-flour savory waffle recipe. LOL this batch separated in between the top and bottom layers. But once I pried the baked waffle off the maker, the results were delicious. The last version didn’t have this problem. If I come up with a recipe that works, would you try it? <a href="https://veganism.social/tags/veganfood" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>veganfood</span></a> <a href="https://veganism.social/tags/vegancooking" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>vegancooking</span></a> <a href="https://veganism.social/tags/chickpeaflour" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>chickpeaflour</span></a> <a href="https://veganism.social/tags/waffles" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>waffles</span></a> <a href="https://veganism.social/tags/glutenfree" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>glutenfree</span></a> <a href="https://veganism.social/tags/tryagain" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>tryagain</span></a></p>
Cook for Good<p>Made bagels for the first time today! And yesterday, really, because it’s a two-day process. Fun in a crafty way and super delicious. The everything topping held on well, no egg wash needed. Delicious with Miyoko’s plant-based cream cheese and butter. Gave half of them to friends to brighten their Monday. <a href="https://veganism.social/tags/baking" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>baking</span></a> <a href="https://veganism.social/tags/bagels" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>bagels</span></a> <a href="https://veganism.social/tags/friendship" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>friendship</span></a> <a href="https://veganism.social/tags/veganfood" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>veganfood</span></a></p>
Cook for Good<p>Happy to find this soy-free tofu made with fava beans at Wegmans. I stir-fried half the pack with veg last night. Sooo good! Will simmer the rest in curry sauce tonight. Cook for Good<p>Love the Transfarmation project by Mercy for Animals, which helps farmers move from raising animals to growing plants. That includes high-profit crops like mushrooms and hemp. Cook for Good<p>Yum potato pie on a cold and rainy Sunday. I poured a chickpea-flour batter over sliced potatoes with a little chopped onion, baked for 45 minutes covered at 425F, uncovered for 10 more minutes, topped with a sprinkle of plant-based cheese for 5 more. <a href="https://veganism.social/tags/VeganFood" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>VeganFood</span></a> <a href="https://veganism.social/tags/ComfortFood" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>ComfortFood</span></a> <a href="https://veganism.social/tags/potato" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>potato</span></a></p>

Cook for Good<p>Thanksgiving preview with a grilled Meati Classic Cutlet on a bun, homemade cranberry sauce, and green beans with olive oil and mustard. The sauce was still warm, but it will set up in a few hours. The Meati is almost all “mushroom root” and tastier than my memory of a grilled chicken breast. It would be a wonderful alternative to turkey if sliced and served with mushroom gravy. As always, this is from the heart. I don’t take sponsors or ads. <a href="https://veganism.social/tags/thanksgiving" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>thanksgiving</span></a> <a href="https://veganism.social/tags/meati" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>meati</span></a> <a href="https://veganism.social/tags/vegan" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>vegan</span></a></p>
Cook for Good<p>Original Oreos are vegan and “normal” in my neighborhood. Trick-or-treaters seem much more enthusiastic about them than about the organic, allergen-free treats I used to get.
