I forgot to introduce myself here. This is Santhosh from India. An overnight vegan. Vegan since 2020. I am an environmentalist too. I'd really appreciate if you take me in for any activity regarding propagation of veganism, in India.
@Santhosh_Selvaraj When you say "overnight", you mean like you had a sudden epiphany that made you realize you wanted to do this?
I had something like that -- I got suddenly angry with myself for sucking-up a spider while I was vacuuming, just because it was too inconvenient to avoid it, which led to "you can't just kill things for your own convenience" and then the lightbulb moment :-)
@siblingpastry I had a lightbulb moment too.
Hens/roosters, goats and sometimes even pigs are sacrificed in some temples in India. I have attended such sacrifices a lot of time. I never felt it was necessary but still kept on eating meat for years. One fine day, I attended a peculiar type of sacrifice which happens in the burial ground. I noticed the hen struggling for life. I thought it's time to change.
But honestly I was too scared of the change as I was worried about my health and I wasn't very determined. A vegan friend sent me three documentaries --the Gamechangers , Cowspiracy and the 'Dominion'. I couldn't even watch half of 'Dominion'. It gave me the determination and I changed once and for all. Never turned back.
