Ele Willoughby, PhD<p>I added a 3rd colour &amp; finished my very small edition of hand-printed aluminum foil lithographic prints of a wolpertinger, a composite creature from German folklore. Ele Willoughby, PhD<p>I’m experimenting with kitchen litho on aluminum foil! On Thursday I took a great online workshop &amp; managed to make a very small edition of wolpertinger* prints. It’s tricky but also extraordinary to get detailed prints with household items like aluminum foil, vegetable oil, cola and water.</p><p>I tried different papers &amp; printed them by hand with glass baren &amp; wooden spoon. It’s a lot of elbow grease! </p><p><a href="https://spore.social/tags/printmaking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>printmaking</span></a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/kitchenLitho" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>kitchenLitho</span></a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/wolpertinger" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>wolpertinger</span></a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/wip" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>wip</span></a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/printmakingProcess" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>printmakingProcess</span></a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/aluminumFoilLitho" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>aluminumFoilLitho</span></a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/folklore" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>folklore</span></a></p>
Ele Willoughby, PhD<p>I’m going to be trying some new to me printmaking this week and am making some preliminary sketches.</p><p>Have you heard of the wolpertinger? A mythical deer-hare hybrid of German folklore it feels similar to the jackalope but is often described as a fanged hare with antlers, bird parts like wings (or feet or even beaks) and other small mammals like foxes, pine martens or (in this case) squirrels. 🧵1/2</p><p><a href="https://spore.social/tags/wolpertinger" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>wolpertinger</span></a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/folklore" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>folklore</span></a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/mythology" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mythology</span></a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/printmaking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>printmaking</span></a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/jackalope" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>jackalope</span></a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/sketching" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sketching</span></a> <a href="https://spore.social/tags/MastoArt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MastoArt</span></a></p>
