#TeleMessage's Signal backdoor app is getting lots of attention due to #Signalgate, but they have other products that function similarly for #Telegram, #WhatsApp, and #weChat.

Has literally _anyone_ audited their products before #signalgate? Do their apps make it clear to its users that they are using a backdoored version of the official apps? Is it #stalkerware? We need answers.

TeleMessage has wiped their web site within the last 12 hours.

People need to realize there's not one perfect app.

  • They can have multiple very good options that do their part or one shitty bloatware that does nothing even halfway acceptable.

The former are #IRC, #XMPP+#OMEMO, #WebCall, #OnionShare, #Linphome, #Mumble, …

The latter one are #MicrosoftTeams, #Discrord, #QQ, #WeChat, #iMessage, #Signal, #Matrix, …

When I lived in China I found I couldn't socially exist without their everything app; WeChat. Even putting aside the privacy horrorshow, the power TenCent have because every other company effectively has to transact through WC is terrifying.

When FarceBook tried to do the Libra/ Diem payment integration, it was obvious who they were emulating. Very glad it failed.

Natürlich kannste der #Desinformation von #Diensteanbietern glauben, aber dann ist #WhatsApp auch #E2EE weil die #SSL nutzen (und mit der Logik auch #WeChat & #QQ - lol)!

  • Ernsthaft, es gibt nen Grund warum #XMPP+#OMEMO & #PGP/MIME bis heute sich halten und proprietäre shice alla #MSN & #ICQ tot ist.

Gerade weil wirkliche #InfoSec & #OpSec sowie #ComSec & #ITsec nur mit #Transparenz geht.
