Take a moment to sign a petition to help defend the Internet Archive from a $700m #RIAA lawsuit. The world needs the #internetarchive and #waybackmachine to preserve digital history, and this lawsuit is described as an existential threat.
Update. "ERICA is a rescue catalog which preserves over 500,000 Open Access publications originally hosted by the US Department of Education in the #ERIC research repository. ERIC was defunded on the 23 April 2025 and the maintenance contract is set to expire soon, meaning that ERIC is likely to shut down. The PDFs were rescued using the Internet Archive's #WaybackMachine by a volunteer of the #DataRescueProject. When you click on one of the publication ID links, you will be redirected to the archived PDF in the the Wayback Machine. Feel free to host your own copy of ERICA by simply cloning this source code repo, which also includes the metadata for the catalog."

Good question. I don't know the answer. But if you could identify one of those rights-restricted docs, you could look for it in this #WaybackMachine collection.

Fortunately the Data Rescue Project (@datarescueproject.org) lists it as completely backed up as of April 5, 2025.

Defend the Internet Archive from the lawsuit by major labels over its 78 RPM music collection, which could kill the Internet Archive and Wayback Machine.

Ok, I just managed to open the PDF document in a web browser using the Wayback Machine
One valuable dox at #InternetArchive #WaybackMachine is a copy of the Biden State Department removed PeaceCorp "Diversity & Inclusion" page for #Ukraine, which illustrates the degree of #racism and #homophobia in that society. Did I mention we gave that #neonazis coup regime as much as the whole russian military budget a few years ago even as they use the Nword?Page link at the bottom

"So look after facts. You'll miss them when they've gone. This is Wayback Machine (@internetarchive). Give them money, they're trying to preserve the internet as it's being deleted day by day."

#waybackmachine from @internetarchive has some old (2004) captures of my flickr page, like this one: https://web.archive.org/web/20041030110304/http://www.flickr.com/photos/rhodes/page13/
The nostalgia is strong: the eternal "beta" status, the .gne links, the ludicorp footer..
Flickr was my first real 'social web' experience. I met lifelong friends through #flickr and, through one of those friends, my now wife.

Are there alternatives to The Wayback Machine and archive.is ?
Google + Bing got rid of their cache feature. The Wayback Machine went down recently. Archive.is is owned by an anonymous owner and privately funded.

I am really missing studygroupcomics website. Is there something similar around?
It was a page full of free webcomics.

Last week in Leiden, Brewster Kahle was presented with the 2024 ProjectUil by the Dutch Wikipedia community. He explained how the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine has helped fix millions of broken links, ensuring citations on Wikipedia remain valid and accessible across multiple language editions.

Update. "As the Trump administration purges web pages, this group is rushing to save them"
https://www.npr.org/2025/03/23/nx-s1-5326573/internet-archive-wayback-machine-trump
"After President Trump's inauguration in January, some federal web pages vanished. While…were removed entirely, many came back online with changes that…officials said were made to conform to Trump's executive orders to remove "diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility policies." Thousands of datasets were wiped — mostly at agencies focused on science and the environment…Information about climate change, reproductive health, gender identity and sexual orientation also have been on the chopping block…The #InternetArchive [@internetarchive] is among the few efforts that exist to catch the stuff that falls through the digital cracks, while also making that information accessible to the public. Six weeks into the new administration, #WaybackMachine director Graham said, the Internet Archive had cataloged some 73,000 web pages that had existed on U.S. government websites that were expunged after Trump's inauguration."
