From Steve Munro: ‘TTC's Strategic Planning Committee meeting to discuss ridership growth was hijacked by members one might expect to support a "progressive" agenda. Shameful.’

What a surprise! More in-office work means more congestion, noise, air pollution, climate change and wasted time. Instead of more WFH Doug orders congestion.
Guess he will "solve" it with a fictional 401 tunnel and illegal bike lane removals. #ONpoli #TOpoli #ClimateChange

Bloody hell this is maddening. The province builds bike lane segments in front of every new LRT station, expecting the city to build the rest.
Now the city is saying it won’t do that, because the province doesn’t like bike lanes anymore?#Bill212
So now cars don’t have their lane AND cyclists are unsafe. Great job everyone.

I hate taking my bike on GO Trains.
You only get 10 minutes from the time the platform is announced, to make it up to the the train.
That means fighting to use the lone elevator, with a touring #bicycle with the other passengers trying to use it, for a train of hundreds.
Also only a few bikes are allowed on the train, so if there are other bikes, that means fighting for a spot.
Union Station is also a giant maze.
Sadly, Toronto isn’t alone in struggling to provide the most basic facilities for human functions. It’s a great contradiction: cities work so hard to encourage people to get out and about, shop, eat and drink locally, but then make it nearly impossible to go to the toilet.

""It makes no difference what kind of operator you are … the laws of the road apply to all," police said"
Yesterday a driver cut me off so closely in the Sherbourne St bike lane that I felt my heart seize up.
The laws of the road apply exactly to the extent they are enforced, and enforcement is not applied to all. Legalize scooters, criminalize gargantuan SUVs and lifted trucks.
The #DougFord #OntarioPlace #Scandal is getting worse and worse.
From ever more rocky finances to Doug's "Stress Test" where Therme had to prove it was worth 1/4 of the value of their proposal - yup, one quarter, a $100mil stress test on a $400mil project - every week we learn more about how the #ThermeGroup got the red carpet treatment from Doug's #Ontario #Conservatives.

Pedestrian struck by Eglinton LRT during testing run
Toronto police say the LRT was completing a test run across Eglinton Avenue at Pharmacy when it struck a woman
A worthy cause if you're in Ontario. Tell your MPP and the housing minister to legalize safe single stair buildings (the kind you see in places like Europe). We don't have to have just single family homes and sky scrapers.
DoFo tampering with the judiciary. He doesn't want to use the NWC, he's floating it to pressure the court to rule in his favour.
I don't mean he's unwilling. I mean he doesn't want to pass 212 with the NWC because he doesn't want the 80% about ramming through the 413 to expire after 5 years. If he passes a bill just for removing the bike lanes it'll be pretty obvious he doesn't actually have a plan to remove them in a timely manner, like it was to the judge.
“What exactly does the court’s bike-lane decision mean?
Yes, the Charter protected Toronto’s bike lanes. No, bike lanes are not a Charter right”
@jm_mcgrath on the court win protecting (for the moment) the Bloor, University, and Yonge bike lanes.

No, the “people of Ontario” should not overrule “the people of Toronto”, about toronto bike lanes. Doug Fnord is pulling a Trump whine https://toronto.citynews.ca/2025/08/06/doug-ford-bike-lanes-ontario-government/
Next, let’s stop him from giving money to his friends for an imaginary $10B tunnel for cars and add some railway. #TOpoli
@jackhauen: New: Doug Ford is leaving open the possibility of invoking the notwithstanding clause to remove Toronto bike lanes.
“Let's see what happens at the Court of Appeal, and then we'll go from there."

Metrolinx testing of Eglinton LRT is still moving forward and apparently progressing. But still no timelines.
Now they are concerned about how old those Bombardier trains are since i guess a lot of them have been sitting in the garage for years.
It does seem that it's still Metrolinx running the show, so definitely not transferred fully to the TTC
https://toronto.citynews.ca/2025/08/06/eglinton-crosstown-lrt-vehicle-testing-opening/
It's starting to feel like the TTC is a site of security incidents and mechanical difficulties which occasionally also offers transit service.
