#Transport for #London has opened a new #accessible toilet at White Hart Lane #Overground station, with Seven Sisters to follow, as part of a £15 million, five-year investment to improve toilet access across the network. New facilities are also planned for Amersham, Clapton and Morden, while up to 12 existing toilets, including at Canary Wharf and Wembley Central, will be refurbished. An audit has identified where improvements are most needed at bus stations, supporting Transport for London's Equity in Motion strategy to make transport more inclusive. There are currently 146 TfL-managed toilets, with further facilities in non-TfL stations. Staff can advise customers on nearby options and provide access to RADAR key toilets. A Toilet Tube Map and the #TfL Go app are available to help passengers locate accessible facilities across the network.

#Arriva Rail #London (ARL) is working with #Transport for London (TfL) on major upgrades to Surrey Quays station, including step-free access and a new entrance linking to local developments. Involved from the design stage, ARL colleagues like driver Louise Jury and customer host Mohammad Qmran Fazal shared key insights to enhance safety and the customer experience. The improvements will increase capacity to meet rising demand on the Windrush line. Andy Teesdale, ARL’s head of concession management, said the collaboration with #TfL ensures the station meets the needs of both staff and passengers. The revamped station opens next year.

#Transport for #London (#TfL) published 2023/24 fare evasion prosecution statistics following a Freedom of Information request. A total of 18,570 fare evaders were convicted, with breakdowns by transport mode. TfL outlined its efforts to reduce fare evasion to below 1.5% by 2030, highlighting its use of 450 revenue inspectors and advanced technology. Fare evasion, a criminal offence, can result in a £1,000 fine and a criminal record. TfL remains focused on addressing the issue due to its impact on reinvestment in the transport network and its connection to broader criminal activity.

#Transport for #London (#TfL) responded to a Freedom of Information (FOI) request regarding the integration of Oyster Cards into mobile wallets, confirming they hold the relevant information. They explained that while the idea was considered in 2022, challenges around user experience and compatibility with existing contactless payment systems remain unresolved. The digital Oyster wallet's development is not yet in TfL's business plan due to these issues and funding constraints. Regarding the payment terminal replacement, the card reader upgrade programme is still in development, with deployment expected in 2026-2027. Additionally, the new Revenue Collection Contract starting in August 2026 will include the installation of card validation readers at railway stations.

#Transport for #London (TfL) published a new document outlining London’s Bus Contracting and Tendering Process in April 2025. London’s bus services are regulated by #TfL, ensuring coordinated management and improved service quality. Operators compete for contracts, typically lasting up to seven years, with an emphasis on both quality and cost-effectiveness. Introduced in 2001, Quality Incentive Contracts link operator payments to service reliability and performance standards. TfL is also committed to reducing emissions, with a transition to zero-emission #buses as part of its environmental strategy. Additionally, regular performance monitoring and customer feedback drive continuous service improvements.

In case you missed it, #TfL and the Mayor are consulting about the pedestrianisation of #OxfordStreet. It's been talked about for 30 years at least but maybe this time its serious - they even have a date 1 January 2026. Something to look forward to.
There's not much detail here - no mention of permeable paving, much additional green space, trees etc, parallel and perpendicular safe cycling route(s?)., nor of bus rerouting. So get your ideas in. haveyoursay.tfl.gov.uk/oxford-

Have Your Say Transport for LondonOxford Street TransformationThis public consultation – which will run from 28 February 2025 to 02 May 2025 - is about gathering your views on the proposed establishment of a new Mayoral Development Corporation to unlock the true potential of Oxford Street and deliver a world-class, safe,

#Transport for #London (TfL) is beginning the second phase of work to improve Nine Elms Lane and #Battersea Park Road, starting on 28 April and due to finish by autumn 2026. The project will enhance safety and accessibility for pedestrians, #cyclists, and bus users, supporting the area’s growth. Key improvements include 1.6km of continuous cycleways, wider footways, new pedestrian crossings, upgraded bus stops, 24 new trees, and better drainage. Lane closures and traffic restrictions will be in place, with some diversions and temporary bus stop relocations. #TfL aims to minimise disruption, but journey times may increase. The work will also support local regeneration, improve climate resilience, and encourage sustainable travel.

#Transport for #London (TfL) employees and those of its operators (e.g., buses, DLR, Overground, Trams, and Elizabeth line) are entitled to free travel on #TfL services, excluding Thames Clipper and Cable Car. This long-standing benefit, predating TfL’s formation in 2000, helps attract and retain staff with minimal impact on revenue.

Retired staff (50+ with 20+ years of service) can access a Retired Staff Oyster card, with one nominated family member also eligible. A Freedom of Information request revealed the following pass distribution: 27,573 staff passes, 20,799 nominee passes, and 25,095 retired staff passes. Employees of non-TfL companies in the TfL family also receive passes. The total number of passes issued is 148,844, with no free travel passes for the GLA family.

Further details on PTAC passes issued were also provided under a Freedom of Information request.

#TfL's poorly implemented charging system tried to steal 3 pints worth of beer tokens off me last week! This is why if you use them you should regularly check that they've charged you correctly. It seems that if you only use buses they get it right, but if you use trains and tubes they screw up about one journey in 10. TfL's own website for calculating fares doesn't work either (presumably they don't want to make it easy to check for overcharging) but oysterfares.com/fare-finder/ does.

#TfL Freedom of Information release:
Physical Carrying Capacity and Train Configurations on #London Underground Lines

The London Underground line capacities are based on a planning assumption of 4 people per square metre:
⦵ Bakerloo has a capacity of 730, with 7 cars per train, averaging 104 passengers per car.
⦵ Central totals 892, with 8 cars per train, averaging 112 per car.
⦵ Jubilee has 820, with 7 cars per train, averaging 117 per car.
⦵ Northern has 689, with 6 cars per train, averaging 115 per car.
⦵ Piccadilly has 684, with 6 cars per train, averaging 114 per car.
⦵ District / Circle / Hammersmith & City totals 892, with 7 cars per train, averaging 127 per car.
⦵ Metropolitan has 1,004, with 8 cars per train, averaging 126 per car.
⦵ Victoria has 857, with 8 cars per train, averaging 107 per car.
⦵ Waterloo & City totals 432, with 4 cars per train, averaging 108 per car.

These figures represent the max crowding level at which services run sustainably.
