See illmarks at The Fishbowl in Seattle! The art exhibit Note to Self opens Friday August 1, and runs until August 29. The exhibit explores the many ways grief can manifest. Each piece includes some form of text in it, hence the title Note to Self.

Stay tuned for more information, but there might be an illmarks-specific event the evening of July 27 !

The figure in the center of the bookmark is a mer person ! Their head is a fishbowl, from which a fish is swimming out. Because they are underwater, the fish is free to swim in or out of the fishbowl head as they please. The figure has a green and gold shimmering reflective tail, with highly textured and detailed scales and fins, which come up to under the breasts. They have a sea foam green upper body, and their hands, lower arms, and areas of the upper arms are also sea foam. Not visible, is that the dark dark green lines surrounding the eyes, and making up a lot of the mer tail reflects metallic green. Fish-shape-like eyes are suspended in the fishbowl as well. The waterline cuts diagonally across the top of the bookmark. Above the water line is the text "The Fishbowl, Note to Self, Aug 1 - 29" and a small sketch of Seattle's Space Needle.

An image with white text on a black background, the text was produced on a typewriter and creates a square. The top half of the square says ‘yeah’ and the bottom half of the square says ‘sure’. in the middle of the square there is a kind of chaos as letters overlap. This effect seems to almost create a black hole, or in this case a white hole as the ink is white.

The background looks like a swirl of colours! This work was made on a typewriter and than transferred-pressed onto the background, this process involves heat and only takes a minute. Greetings!

I made this one in a minute! Most of the times when I create an artwork, I experiment on my typewriter until the work is done. And then sometimes you have a phrase or word in your head and you kind of already know how you want it to look like. It doesn’t happen often, but with this work I immediately knew what I wanted to do.
