Dammit, why can't we get taggers like this in Los Angeles? JFC, if you're gonna crime, at least be creative, losers.

How St Kilda’s use of a tagger against Melbourne sparked the AFL’s greatest comeback
The tagger is one of the most talked-about roles in footy. Each week, speculation abounds about whether teams…

I've made 10,000 posts on Mastodon since I joined just under two years ago.
Thanks and thoughts:
- I'm grateful to @admin for running this instance. I made a small contribution to the running costs, and you should do the same.
- Thank you to all who follow and interact with me.
- Thank you to the people I follow for providing so much thought provoking, entertaining, informative, and beautiful content.
- I wish more of the academics and journalists I followed on Xitter had migrated to Mastodon.
- There are times when I feel I am just talking to myself here.
- There are many topics on which I have opinions but which I do not discuss here, either because I am not sufficiently well informed to make a constructive contribution to a discussion, or because for some topics I do not think Mastodon is an appropriate forum for their discussion.
- Partly on account of its current rotten government and the appalling way in which it is currently waging war, Israel is an unpopular country on Mastodon, or at least in the parts of Mastodon that I see. Nevertheless and regardless of how many people here take offence, I will continue to defend the right of Israel to exist. A two state solution, Israel and Palestine recognized as two states living alongside each other, is not utopian and is the only way to ensure peace and dignity for all.
- I use hashtags and so should you!
IMO, #tagging is not that intuitive as it seems.
If you do follow my guide with 10 rules, you should get much more out of #tags as you do get otherwise:

@newmaker @lislegaard once wrote this nice introduction: https://www.kristofferlislegaard.com/blog/2025-01-25-how-to-get-started-on-mastodon-fediverse/
but there are more overviews flying around. Can't find a link that fast. #tagging #help helps, so now maybe some other peops have a #link for you if you are #new at #mastodon.
I saw somebody on the fediverse asking for photo software whete you could set your own defined metadata search tags but the stream moved on before I could reply so no idea what platform they were on.
Certainly Shotwell does that on Linux based desktops but not sure if they needed something more akin to lightroom. #photo #PhotoStorage #software #OpenSource #taga #tagging #metadata
Planned to add file name descriptions and #tags to my recent photos while taking a train ride.
Unfortunately, tab-completion of my Python-based #tagging tool doesn't work at the moment and I have no idea why. This makes my tagging session an unpleasant one.
So I created a bug report for it: https://github.com/novoid/filetags/issues/74
The only thing that worries me is that it's my own tool, that has this bug and I don't know how to fix it.
Could be related to #readline, terminal emulator, pyreadline version, ...
This is clearly a Blue Origin company car, with Jeff Bezos' space ship on it!

#contentWarning and #tagging are very different
tagged content flows by at the same level of exposure
content warning hides content from general consumption, putting up an additional barrier to engage with it
for plenty of topics: sex, violence, etc, it is an utterly valid ask
but to ask someone to content warn something that doesn't require a content warn by any coherent rationale?
this is asking the world to bend to your personal preferences on contrived entitlement
yes: #tagging is a completely different story than #contentWarning and i agree with you wholeheartedly
it allows people who want to be engaged in the same content as you to find you
and the inverse:
it allows others who want to avoid the content you are engaged in to avoid you
and *that* is the way it should be
i am not entirely sure there is or ever will be a better option
