Borderline (3D)

It's 3D Saturday! I went back to this year, specifically to February, when I had a stroll back in winter around the block and I remembered shooting this scene several times trying to make up the composition that I think was fit. So, I thought, let me check it out maybe I can get out with something, and it didn't fail me! Get out your anaglyph glasses 🔴🔵 out! you gonna love this one!

March's painting is something experimental! It comes in stereogram form!
You ever get those weird effects when you stare at something really bright, where you get weird shimmers and colors at the edges because your eye is kind of overloaded? And each eye sees some smearing because of tears or weirdness in your eye shape?

I tried to capture that as best as I could. View the stereograms to really capture the effect.

#genuary11 - Impossible Day. Inspired by a comment on another fractal I posted suggesting it looked like a "Magic Eye" image, I wanted to try turning a fractal image into a 3D autostereogram. Maybe not impossible, but certainly ambitious for a genuary post. I came up with two variations - the first one where each layer of the fractal is rendered at a slightly different zoom level to give the perception of depth. The other uses a depth mask to embed a 3D image by shifting pixels of individuals rows. #stereogram #autostereogram #magiceye #genuary #genuary2025

Currently making View Master discs for a show in San Francisco. Made using transparency film and laser cut recycled paper, the work will be displayed on this vintage (1950s) View Master.

This work is about fog and trans visibility and is part of a larger body of work on the same subject.

Thinking about the potential of low/no power display technologies of the past and what their formal qualities (in this case 7 stereographic images in intimate proximity of the body) might offer.
