I read Human by Brett Hodentt (@Cyclesoc) and enjoyed it. A fun read which also raised interesting issues. Here is my #review https://app.thestorygraph.com/reviews/1dca7119-69ae-4cc3-8467-962df403c054

I just saw this on Facebook.
The thing about rightwing Star Wars fans is they are *often* rooting for the Empire.
Many moons ago, I had the pleasure of playing Star Wars Galaxies, before it was murdered by its publisher trying to turn it into a Star Wars themed World of Warcraft clone.
You could be either a rebel or an imperial, and there was PvP between the factions. People flocked to the Empire and really got into it - empire players outnumbered us rebels!
The Hugo Award Nominees have been announced! Which of these have you read? I finished Alien Clay in December- it was excellent and had an interesting ending. Working my way through Service Model and The Kingfisher now! #Hugoaward #books #Sci-fi #SFF

Sci-fi writers: Got pieces involving interstellar travel, life under a unique sun, or a study of the stars? We’d love to read them! Hard or soft #sci-fi and related starry #speculative works welcome.
Oh, look! An article valiantly tackling a #sci-fi thought experiment , as if the internet wasn't already overflowing with pseudo-intellectual musings. Just remember, folks: #JavaScript is crucial to your survival against imaginary AI overlords.

I heard Annihilation was about grief or relationships. I'm interested af in Scavenger's Reign.
I feel like we have a rough indentation / substructure of how we will process things from birth, but that every event thereon will shape it further.
As well, we know ourselves in reference to others: "I'm like A, not like B, but most like C. What lies beyond C? I might see myself reflected best over there."
"Rules do not exist to bind you; they exist so you may know your freedoms."
Parameters outline a given environment within which to experiment and explore. It's one antidote to Blank Page Syndrome, for example.
I have to disagree entirely about personifying the automated house in There Will Come Soft Rains (fantastic name), but otherwise yes. This is exactly my understanding.

It's also a good description of why I feel so confused by others.
People tend to feel more secure (than I do) in their identities as individuals, group members, and (neurotypical / neurodefault / neurorigid) humans.
I #justfinished Last Chance to save the World by Beth Revis and I loved it. The ending had me giving Revis a bit of side eye but darn- she always has a shocker that packs a punch in these short novellas! #bookreview #Sci-fi #spaceopera #bookreccomendation #books #romcom https://hollysreadingescapades.blogspot.com/2025/04/book-review-last-chance-to-save-world.html?m=1

Aha! THIS is ideal science:
CURIOSITY, clear communication,
respect (actual) corrections from anywhere,
honest effort to test and learn, and
share what you know with anyone interested.

It's not easy, but these are each necessary. I'm using 'science' here like STEM or STEAM.
So I broadly refer to a scientific method but also engineering expertise, mathematical review, and humanities' impact on supporting any of this to happen at all.
Ignoring currency hoarding by money addicts, the rest of us are here to enjoy contentment.
We can make real discoveries, inventions, and connect ideas to find useful applications.
(Also petition to call Dark Matter instead Clear Matter.)
