I've been practicing martial arts for years, from two-handed longsword to systema. ⚔️ There are symbols in these practices that are more important than the combat itself. These creations are inspired by this quest for a sensitive form of virility.

Hey all, one been on the proverbial back foot all day, but I'm making progress on #crafting some Celtic coasters, to give to my MIL who has a craft shed she sells her own things from during tourist season.

I'm going to see if something might be good enough to sell, as terrifying as that is.

I've already had to learn I'm a human, not a machine, so products are similar but not identical.

Hey folks, only just about to load stuff on my computer. I've had a fatigued kinda day, where it has taken me ages to do anything.

But I've managed to make a demo coaster for #pyrography. Tomorrow, I'll see if I am capable of making a few in a reasonable period of time. I need to use square corners to get the strip straighter, as well.

But my hand pain had kicked in, so I need to stop drawing.

A demo coaster I made (hence the rough edges) to test a different type of material, burning at a cooler temperature and trying to get the Celtic knot pattern straighter.

Les étapes d'un tableau en pyrogravure

C'est un des tableaux qui m'ont pris le plus de temps. La pyrogravure est une affaire de patience et de lenteur. :cat_closing_eyes:

Comme écrire au ralenti, une forme de médiatation.
Et les odeurs de bois brûlé apportent une ambiance de feu de bois apaisante.

Le transfert se fait au papier graphite, en choisissant les traits que je garde qui seront pertinents pour le rendu avec la pyrogravure.

Quelque chose me touche profondément sur l'IA générative "façon Ghibli".
Voir apparaître des centaines d'images générées risque d'abimer le lien poétique et les inspirations que j'ai aujourd'hui avec l'imaginaire des films.
Je ne veux pas cela, au contraire je veux prendre soin de ce lien qui me nourrit.
Du coup une création faite avec un Cœur qui bat, le mien. 💚

J'ai réussi à m'y remettre (un peu) !

Première (et rare) commande que je prendrai, c'est un WIP il manque le vernis ici, mais le blanchissement de ce bois pas commode et le changement de pointe et de température ont beaucoup amélioré la réaction et donc la précision des détails.

My one win of today is that I've finished my first proper #pyrography project. I have a few "boring" things to work on like mending, treating and then pattern-burning chopping boards. They're uninspiring objects but good things to learn and test with.

There's plenty here I could do better on, but overall I'm happy with it.

(The bottom left is where I edited out my real-life initials)

My original designed dragon wooden plaque that I used as the final project for a short Pyrography course my wife bought for me. The project brief was "do anything you want but try to keep it to this size". So this is not a copy of anything. There are plenty of dragons on the Internet, but this one is mine.

Think I had a delayed reaction to the later night proofreading for wifey, so I massively overslept, which meant too much sleep, which makes my neck and shoulder pain worse, yippie!

However, I stayed off my computer so I could make progress on my #pyrography project. which is starting to come together now

Updated Work-in-Progress of my Pyrography (drawing and writing on wood by burning it), which is a dragon with wings outstretched and flames in the negative space.
