It's important to understand the ways we can remove carbon from the atmosphere. However, it's useless to rely on these technologies or on biology while we continue to burn fossil carbon. The easiest way to understand this is to look at the timescales. We are burning millions of years worth of biologically stored carbon in a geological blink of the eye. We must stop burning the carbon.

This is why the focus on #NetZero is such a problem. People deeply misunderstand the problem. The misunderstanding comes from decades of purposeful mis- and disinformation from business and governments, aided by a gullible and uncritical media industry.

With AOL killing Dial Up Internet I was curious what still exists. I've found that there is over an estimated 160,000 people still using dial up in the US as their only connection (there are others using dial up as a fallback)

Earthlink quietly shut off dial up access in early 2024 (best I can tell).

Incredibly Juno and NetZero both still offer 10 free hours of dial up a month (and unlimited subscriptions).
