Can’t believe this thread on Evan Davis/ #BBC / #HeatPumps has has now been reposted over 400 times!

Overwhelmingly people posting here approve of heat pumps and want to see more of them…that’s great news!

So what makes them controversial? Davis himself seems to think it’s their association with #NetZero, of which the timescale has recently been hotly debated in UK.

Hear his thoughts on this, on the final episode of Happy Heat Pump Podcast:

"The total abandonment of the broad political consensus for #NetZero by parties on the right of #UKPolitics – and by US president Donald Trump’s Republican administration in Washington – is causing serious alarm inside the UK government."

The Guardian · Miliband in blistering attack on Farage’s UK net zero ‘nonsense and lies’By Toby Helm

Offsetting your carbon emissions by #climate credits is sold as an instrument to reach net zero with market mechanisms. Instead of cutting emissions in absolute terms the heating of the atmosphere with emissions from fossil energy is a core business of green #capitalism shifting the burden onto other actors or regions while profiting financially from this business and maintaining a high level of CO2 emissions anyhow.

As #Musk is a prime example of this so-called solution he has to defend a regulation which actually should be eliminated to find better ways of climate protection. #Trump wants to finish carbon offsetting to enhance more fossil energy production which is even worse.

E&E News by POLITICO · Tesla built Musk’s vast wealth through climate credits. Trump may end them. The president-elect has asked Elon Musk to wage war on regulations — some of which helped make Tesla the world’s most valuable automaker.

Good stuff from #EdMiliband

I hope he wins the fight in govt against those who think squeezing every last drop of fossil fuel from the North Sea & then starting fracking on-land is the way to go.

Emphasis is needed that #NetZero is the way to lower bills in the long term with jobs & prosperity. It's win-win for ordinary people & the #climate

The Guardian · Tories and Reform use the steel crisis to knock clean energy. They’re wrong: it will secure all our futuresBy Ed Miliband

"Our research finds that in every #UK constituency #voters say they are more worried about #climatechange than not, and most see #renewableenergy as the path to energy security, jobs and #cheaperenergy."

This site is the future of service stations: banks of chargers (45 x350 kW, kids play area, cafe and toilets *and the complete silence of an EV site*. So many chargers that normal app- based charger selection UIs can't cope -too many to scroll through.

The solar panels at the site mean InstaVolt charge 65p/kWh - we sat in the sun and let the car charge up to 80%, even as the charge rate dropped to 40 kW. No need to feel guilty

“High energy prices are absolutely not created by #NetZero policies. Britain is acutely exposed to fluctuations in gas prices, and the gas price also drives UK electricity prices more than in other countries. Britain’s amazing wind resources offer the potential for cheap, stable energy prices. We need to build the infrastructure of clean power so we can have cheap power for decades.”

The Guardian · Rightwing media falsely blame Ed Miliband for UK steel crisis, experts sayBy Helena Horton

When will it be fashionable to care more about #nature than a sports car?

Is the cost of a manned mission to Mars worth "it" compared to the cost of protecting the #Amazon Rainforest?

Why do they keep on selling more, & buying more, plastic bottles if plastic is contaminating the environment?

Why do political & industry leaders \ lobbyists talk about #NetZero, whilst not doing what's needed to reach Net Zero on time, & then say, but Net Zero can be reached at a much later time?
