They fought for Irish freedom and then Dev and successive governments took their freedoms away, all due to the heavy influence of the church within the state. </p><p>Women didn't even have the right to be tried in court because it was an all male system. </p><p>Let's not forget that they waged a war against women and relegated them to second class citizens pretty quickly after the Civil War was over.</p>
