Since last week trying to snapshot elastic search into minio.

Not sure whether the problem is elasticsearch or minio, which is hosted by cloud provider.

Tomorrow I will install local VM to try things further.

so many tutorials and guides use #minio for a #selfhosted #S3 interface, but looking into their license that seems highly unpractical?!

Just migrated most of Babb storage to Minio. Then I created some tasks so that I get things backed up.

So much better to have control over our own storage...

Ok, so #minio is AGPL-licensed... That means, if you host it, the thing you are hosting it for should be also AGPL-licensed. Or you should buy a license for many thousands bucks annually.

I have a project I want to monetize in the future. I need an S3-compatible storage for it. And I didn't decide on the business model yet, nor on the licensing model. I'm not even sure if it will be open source.

I have options, and the easiest one is #JuiceFS. It is S3-compatible and it has Minio components built-in, but the project has Apache 2.0 license. I'm sure it is because the version of Minio they are using is at least 3 years old, from the times when it was not AGPL-licensed. Good and bad at the same time.

If anyone has any idea how to debug AWS SDK v3 S3's “SignatureDoesNotMatch" errors when interacting with Minio, I'd really love to know.

Edit: Solved. Turned out to be .env screwing with me by a .env.local existing too, which I didn't realise existed.

Some technical details on #MakerTube. I'm using #minio object storage for video storage and they finally fixed some memory leak in the latest version. This means no more unwanted restarts and interruptions on upload and playback.
