Solar system quadruplets! (Is it an omen?)

First photo is in dark morning twilight before Mercury had risen. I like the cirrus in front of the crescent moon. (Brilliant Venus at top center, and faint Saturn right of center.)

Second photo is in bright twilight, using a shorter/wider lens, but features Mercury in the lower left corner just above the tree line. (Note that I boosted the visibility of Mercury a little bit so that it's easier to see, especially on a small cell phone screen.)

Brilliant Venus in upper left quadrant.

Saturn is below and right of Venus, nearer the trees, and considerably fainter...looks somewhat orange.

And there are some fainter stars visible.

Tomorrow the moon will be lower, and also to the left of Venus. That will make for a tight grouping down low. I'll try to capture Mercury as it rises in bright twilight. (Mercury is not in this morning's photo.)

Astrophotography opportunity on the morning of 25 April (also 24, and maybe the 26th)...several planets and the waning crescent moon.

This screenshot is for the 25th. The red wire box shows coverage of an APS-C sensor and 85mm lens (or full-size sensor and 135mm lens). Put your camera on a tripod. You should not need long a exposure. Mercury will be the most difficult to capture.

Comet C/2025 F2 SWAN, discovered by citizen scientists using SOHO's SWAN camera, shows a greenish coma and faint ion tail in an image from California. Currently visible with binoculars, it will reach perihelion on May 1 near #Mercury's orbit.

I didn't notice before, but there is a giant Mercury/Hermes on the rooftop in the Glasgow merchant city. In fact he is all over the Merchant City, which is the gay neighborhood, and really his corner of town.
