Interesting. LibreTranslate has difficulty with alternating capitalization.

Je viens de trouver un projet de "traducteur" dans lequel l'auteur utilise l'instance de #LibreTranslate de Fedilab pour avoir des traductions en #Kabyle.
I developed a small proxy service, that translates LibreTranslate API calls into Mozhi API calls.
The intent was to use Mozhi as translation service for my Sharkey instance. Why: Because in my opinion Mozhi gives better results, especially when configuring the DuckDuckGo engine.
There is a description on how-to enable the translation service for Sharkey with docker compose. A pre-built docker image for AMD64 is available.
Git repository.

I've just configured #LibreTranslate on this #Mastodon instance c3d2.social .
It is now also available in #NixOS as a module and I fixed url-prefix in LibreTranslate itself https://github.com/LibreTranslate/LibreTranslate/pull/830 .
I wrote a postin German yesterday that ended with:
"What is currently happening in Gaza is completely unacceptable and has not served anyone's legitimate security interests in a long time."
Today, I clicked on the English translation &found that - besides the usual jibberish often produced by #LibreTranslate - , it had omitted the "not" at the end, thus turning the original statement into its complete opposite.
At this quality level, this feature isn't just bad, but outright dangerous.

Machine-translating Markdown using LibreTranslate: can someone share first-hand experience with this project from @simonxix, or would someone like to recommend another project I should be looking into?
(Boosts for reach appreciated!)
While #Fedilab embeds its own translation feature (default option uses our #LibreTranslate service), you can also use #Lingva or #DeepL if you have an API key.
But we have to add the ability to let you use your instance as an option to translate messages. That will be done.
Addon do #libretranslate para #firefox

Rodo o LibreTranslate localmente e não dependo do Google para traduzir páginas WEB. :)
Concerning our translation server using #LibreTranslate at https://translate.fedilab.app we are doing our best to keep it available for everyone (Fedilab but also small instances or personal projects).
Our position requires us to be more careful with abuses (especially bots).
That's why sometimes you can notice some downtimes, but we still work on appropriate actions with the goal that it remains a useful service for everyone and not only for Fedilab.
I had one leftover snafu from server updates. I noticed today translations weren't working as expected. I got bit by PEP 668, but it's all fixed now properly.
The ability to integrate #Libretranslate into the feeds is one of my favorite features here.
OK so LibreTranslate is part of the mastodon instance I'm on.
I just saw a post in Chinese:
在贵州被虫子咬了眼皮,上次这么惨还是幼儿园。
LibreTranslate gave this:
In your State, the puppet was pested, and last was a kindergarten.
DeepL gave this:
I got bitten by an insect on my eyelid in Guizhou. The last time I had such a bad experience was in kindergarten.
I suspect that of the two, DeepL is the more accurte haha
"In the forest, eyes are tired and pinched. A photo of bouquets born on wet soil.
I made a soft green group. The scallops are formed like the tail of the bird."
L'expression "Intelligence artificielle" n'a été publiée dans cette langue cible que sur papier, à ce jour.
Du coup voici le dernier (27500 pas) incluant cette expression: tu peux dire "prems".
La particularité de celui-ci, c'est que j'ai fait de la "traduction inversée" pour près de 57000 sous-titres de films, d'où l'appellation OS : OpenSubtitles.

Set up LibreTranslate for my Mastodon instance. It was pretty quick and easy with the only difficulty being the short wait when it downloads the initial data for the various languages. Quite happy with it. A simple Translate link appears under properly tagged posts that I just click on. Cool beans and does not rely on any sort of external service. Two thumbs way up. #mastoadmin #mastodon #libretranslate
Exemple d'utilisation d'un second modèle de #traduction spécialisé pour la même langue sur #LibreTranslate
Le modèle « Kabyle » est celui entraîné par la communauté.
Le modèle « Kabyle Tsenselkimt / informatique » étant celui que j'ai entrainé, hier.
Our default translation service #LibreTranslate begins to be often down.
We are forced to close it through API keys.
To all small instances using it, please reach us by DM so we can give you an API key.
