The Joys of Gardening
I’ve sowed and mowed, and hoed, in pain,
I’ve seeded and weeded and pled for rain.
I’ve spaded and waded in mud to my knees,
And planted and pruned and watered the trees.
I’ve worked in the heat till my feet were sore,
And raked, and staked till I could do no more.
So, I’ll set back and watch, as row by row,
The flowers bloom and the vegetables grow.
I smile when I see how much I’ve done,
And sigh when I realize I’ve just begun.
Soon I’ll be picking, and digging, and toiling,
Canning and freezing, baking and boiling.
But all of the work was worth the pain,
Being in the garden keeps me sane!

My second #SilentSunday is this fabulous lilium lancifolium 'Farrer's Form.
It differs from the standard lancifolium by having ridiculously glowing orange flowers held on 7 foot tall stems.
Both are lovely, however this form is brilliant next to purple herbaceous phlox and clematis.
Ok, this is getting ridiculous. Good thing tomorrow is Saturday and there should be time to can all of these.

Another 'exciting' weekend at work, another late #SixOnSaturday It's definitely #LateSummer now! We had a few 'hot' days this week, plus rain and a #frost warning!
Bonus #dragonfly lots of them this year, contributing to probably our lowest mosquito season ever and a Lophocampa maculata #caterpillar the Spotted Tussock #Moth -much flashier at this stage!
