Kind of losing my mind over this amazing yarn from Ex Libris yarns. Not only is it all named after bookish stuff, but the dyer has an amazing skill with really dark shades while still having pops of color. Totally my vibe. #knitting #yarn

They do look pretty good on my feet. They are also now the Mark Cardwell Memorial Socks.

Mark was a member of our church who died last Monday week from motor neurone disease, and I was knitting these on that day, though I didn't find out he'd died until the day after. They are a wonderful way to remember him, as he would have very much appreciated them, being a very vibrant and lively personality. Even a week or two before his death, he was bright-eyed and cheerful, though he was in a wheelchair and using an oxygen mask most of the time.

Striped socks, mostly knitted in 2 x 2 rib, with the obligatory stocking stitch for the toe boxes, plus the soles and heels (which are not visible here). They are red, deep pink, and then a little light pink, set off with a medium green which is really a bit more olive than it appears here. I'm wearing them with the inevitable black trousers. They are very cheerful!

Calling all those who signed up for the Baa Baa Brighouse Book Club - it's time for the big reveal!

Introducing 'A Tale of Two Cities', a 100g skein of hand dyed 100% British Bluefaced Leicester 4 ply high twist yarn. There are two skeins in each box.

Included in the box is a copy of the Penguin Clothbound Classic edition of the book and a tin of Victorian style tea.

Boxes are already on their way. Happy knitting!

#knitting ここ数か月配色に悩んでちっとも進まなかったトップダウンのカーディガンがここまで編めました。２玉程ずつ在庫してる中途半端な極太糸を使い切るつもりで編み始めましたが、どうにもダサい！ｗｗｗ　シンメトリーに拘って使ってる色味も抑えようと引き揃えもしてみましたが自分の好みとはまったく外れるものなのでこれもまた解いてしまおうと思っています。出来上がり寸法だけで選んだ編み図もXSを基本にしたものだったので着れませんし←一番駄目な部分。
帽子等の小物はもっと実用性が無いし、既にいくつも編んでいるので次に何を編もうかまったく思い浮かばない状態です（ﾀｽｹﾃ････ﾀｽ･･･ｹﾃ

中途まで編まれたカーディガンの画像。袖口をあと10cm程編めば完成という段階まで仕上がっています。一般的な編み方と違って、首から下へ向かって繋げて編む、「トップダウン」という技法で編んでいるので袖口が最後になるのです。 　色は、薄いピンクから白、グレー、青二色の６色程の極太毛糸が使われています。更に白い糸は紡ぎ方の違う数種類の糸が混じっています。グレーの糸は二種類あり、引き揃えといって二本の毛糸を一緒に使っている部分があります。
