asking for advice and help here

does anyone have any suggestions on like. a way to collect some simple client info and store it.

I do not currently want much (not particularly looking for traces or anything like that), I just want to be able to send a simple object with some basic information to a server (and preferably then be able to use Grafana or something to visualise it).

maybe I'm searching for the wrong things but everything I'm seeing seems to be geared for more advanced stuff and/or seems rather complex (though maybe that's just how it is in this area and/or I need to learn more?) but yeah uh. aaaaa

Badges on the Fediverse?! Yep, it’s happening! 🎉 I’ve got a working prototype for issuing badges with ActivityPub! It's a bit rough around the edges, but I need some help to make it awesome!

💜 Check it out the teaser video and let me know what you think! 🦝✨

I want to make something that does this:

1. Shows a user-friendly interface that looks like filling in a form, where you type in answers to questions.

2. When you finish the form, the answers are shuffled around and combined along with pre-generated text, and spit out as a text document.

Are there any user-friendly meta-interfaces that will let ME make a system like this, without having to code it from scratch? My fallback is a misapplied spreadsheet.

What's the deal with #Linux (specifically, #Debian) and #multimonitor setups (specifically, with #ThinkPad and #DisplayPort)?

I have an #X230Tablet with a monitor (VGA) and an e-ink screen (HDMI over DisplayPort) in addition to its in-built screen, but I can only use two of them at a time. The third one just remains blank, and whichever it is, only starts working when I disable one of the other two 🫣

Is this a general thing or just a "me and my laptop" thing?

for reference I'm looking for
- 512GB+ storage
- 8GB+ RAM (preferably 16GB)
-
15 inches or higher!!!
- something equivalent to or better than a 10th gen i5
- preferably not plastic because I'm scared of it cracking again but still

fingerprint sensor would be really cool but not necessary. I prefer fuller keyboards (i.e. with a numpad) but I
could compromise here

FirefishRexo the Trans Bus 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️🚌 (@rexo)Okay Uhh Hmm I took a look and like there seem to be some decent laptops in the £500-800 range but they all seem to have a bit of a downside

Dear lazywebs:
In GTK+ 3 and higher, the file open dialog lets you type to filter. Like if I type "final" it's going to include every file with "final" in the name. And if I enter "final xii" into the name box, it includes every file with both "final" and "xii" in the name, even if they're in separate words.

But, when I type a space, that opens the selected file instead of putting a space in the name box. I have to click the name box before typing a space. If I want to type several spaces (because there are a lot of similarly named files in the directory), I have to click the name box before each space.

How do I fix this?

Hey #fediverse fans!

I recently added some new links to jointhefediverse.net/join, namely:

- "Explore more platforms" (or "Learn more" for simplicity)
- "Find a community"

Could someone who speaks any of the below languages help me improve the automatic translation I used?

- العربية
- Català
- 简体中文
- 繁體中文
- Deutsch
- Español
- Esperanto
- Euskara
- Français
- Italiano
- Nederlands
- Polski
- Português
- Русский
- Suomi

Thank you so much! 🙏
