Off to the sage last night to see #hawkwind on I think the second night of their current tour promoting another new album "There Is No Space for Us".
A couple of new tracks then they launched some space ritual era favourites, heavy, hard and at breakneck speed. Dave Brock looking and sounding stronger than last year, not bad for a man approaching his mid eighties. His main amp died about a third of the way through the gig but fortunately he had a backup.
The band was well rehearsed but the set broke down a little and there were a few chats figuring out what was next. Magnus Martin looking a little lost at one point and entertaining the audience with a rendition of local favourite "Fog on the Tyne" while Dave, Richard and Doug tried to pick a number.
Lots of fan favourites although the person behind me screaming for silver machine or orgone accumulator left disappointed.
A late night home though as my cars electrical woes are still resolved.
