Ride 4A Reason 2025Tara Choe HORTON - Ride 4A Reason 2025On April 26, I will be participating in Ride for a Reason 2025, a bike ride from Oakland to Sacramento, to raise funds for public education in Oakland and Alameda. My fundraising goal is $250, and I am asking for your help to reach it! Ride for a Reason is more than a bike ride—it’s a local movement to support eleven public schools in Oakland and Alameda, working toward a collective fundraising goal of $200,000. As the parent of an Oakland Unified School District graduate (Peralta Elementary, Claremont Middle, Oakland Technical High School), I have witnessed the fruits of a good public education, and I care deeply about keeping California public schools strong and accessible for all students. This year, Oakland Unified faces a serious funding crisis, and I am highly motivated to support my community’s school district and help ensure that every student has access to a high-quality, public K-12 education. Asking for boosts again

Sharing this again because we still haven't reached our goal, and I might end up increasing that a bit. I am unable to work and go to school simultaneously, due to my chronic pain/illness, it's just too hard on my body. That means I will have no income over the summer, and will have to figure out selling my jewelry. I want to be able to save some of the funds for her celebration of life, and not have it all end up going to bills.

Where we're at: cremation was fully covered, which was $1350. The most important thing! Right now any extra has gone to bills, and I am working to save as much as possible. It's hard to plan for a celebration when I am not sure what I am working with money wise. Dying is so expensive.
