[73714.072490] i2c_designware AMDI0010:03: controller timed out

@DJGummikuh@pixelfed.de interesting discovery: One of the Screws attaching the mainboard to the chassis appears to be missing, Position 3/6 @frameworkcomputer
I am very certain I did not loose it, as this is the first time ever I'm digging this deep into my #Framework16, could this be cause for anything?
ok so today I will replace the liquid metal cooling of my #framework16 with a PTM7958 Thermal Pad cooling. The bad thing: the guide on how to do this has THIRTHY-NINE STEPS to install the thing on the photo
The good thing: There IS a guide and only a single tool required to perform it. Still love the concept, even though I have performance issues (which hopefully should be partially solved with this *free* upgrade)
@craige @AlexanderMars @ErickaSimone @GrapheneOS I concur. I've had good experiences with #GrapheneOS on Pixel devices for five years and just moved from a #System76 #OryxPro running Pop!_OS to a #FrameWork16 running #NixOS.
Though have had trouble with coverting the System76 laptop to NixOS due to fan drivers always running the fan at 100%, which is unacceptable for a server.
Are Here #framework users which can recommend dockingstations which allow you to start a #framework16 laptop by pushing a button on the dockingstation? #frameworklaptop
Or can @frameworkcomputer directly recommend one?
I was trying to get a new computer before the tariffs hecked in, but I ended up sending back my #Framework16 because of a defective touchpad. The irony of modular parts is they fight replacing defective ones.
After spending a week with the #Framework16 I don't think I'm cut out for this level of futzing and hardware debugging. It's been fun playing some games, but it will be going back if I can't get passed the touchpad and keyboard issues.
I run Arch, btw.
Of course, you can't tell, it's just a KDE Plasma 6 desktop set up the way I like.
So far the only thing that's given me trouble has been Steam (resolved by using the Flatpak version), although I still don't have everything set up and configured, and I haven't tried a whole bunch of stuff yet. I'll probably write a blog post.
Hey, nice, installer failed to install something after repartitioning, that's fun. Maybe it didn't like my custom partition scheme?
Ok, going to wipe my laptop and give Bazzite a go. #yolo
I can always do this again with something else if it doesn't work for me.
@gary_alderson the @frameworkcomputer / #Framework16 has a x8 Link for the optional #GPU / Dual-#NVMe module, and in theory you could design like a #NIC-Module with dual-#SFP28 module slots...
Looking for an USB-C #dockingstation, which works with my #framework16 Laptop, running Debian. Need Ethernet-Port and DisplayPort, Cardreader would be nice, Powersupply not necessary.
Can you share your experience?
@javbw @hotdogsladies then consider the @frameworkcomputer / #Framework16 ?
@tamitha considering how #AMD fecked up with #Sinkclose, it's kinda hard to trust them...
Regardless, if I had to buy a bigger #Ryzen machine I'd choose a @frameworkcomputer / #Framework16...
I just experienced a modern computing miracle. I have a relatively old Canon inkjet printer. I have a brand new #debian #linux laptop. I needed to print.
Now, in Windows this ends in tears.
On macOS this ends with printouts after much wailing and gnashing of teeth.
On my #framework16 laptop I hit print. Pages came out. I was done. I have been doing computing since the 1990s. I have never experienced printing this easy.
[FIXED] WLAN instable asking for password
I split the 2.4 GHz and the 5 GHz band. Actually I have no clue why that helped. But the connection now is reliable, fix and connects automatically also after being in standby mode.
EDIT
Network Controller #MEDIATEK Corp. MT7922 802.11ax
Was ich schon versucht habe:
Keine Besserung. Ideen?
