I updated my mutual aid goals to more accurately reflect my current mutual aid needs, i ended up overspending on basic necessities (toilet paper and other things i didnt account for) and so i dropped my glasses fund down a bit, and i now need more money for food.
Please, any donations would help me greatly! Please help me. I am an extremely poor trans girl living in an abusive and transphobic home and i need money to afford my basic necessities. Please donate whatever you can!

It came down to the wire but I did manage to finish a Week One PineNote video: https://makertube.net/w/cSDcWZVjFksZsxpPx5yo8j
@PINE64 has created an excellent device and the community around it is awesome, kind, and super helpful. There are rough edges for sure but it is totally usable out of the box and I'll go into application specific configuration in future posts/videos as long as people find this useful. Let me know what you'd like to see!
Latest FOSS Academic Post: My workflow, 2025 edition:
https://fossacademic.tech/2025/03/15/workflow2025.html
In which I discuss chasing the FOSS Academic Lifestyle Dream, a world in which an academic can get all their work done using free and open source tools. And not just coding! I'm talking about humanities writing, interview methods, sharing work on the fediverse, and so much more.
#FOSS Hacktivists, Industry experts, Knowledge commons advocates & privacy enthusiasts of FSMK came together to discuss the latest developments, shared insights, and brainstorm future initiatives aimed at building a Small Language Model (SLM) for #Kannada. Stay tuned for updates on our progress and how you can get involved in this exciting project!
We're excited about the potential impact of this project on the Kannada landscape and the broader FOSS movement!
I've used several #FOSS programs, like:
No billboards. No Super Bowl ads. No CEO on stage promising "one more thing." Yet Linux quietly became the backbone of modern technology. It runs on 96% of the world’s top servers, powers Android smartphones, controls smart TVs, and even guides rovers on Mars. From financial systems to gaming consoles, Linux is everywhere, just not where the average consumer sees it.
The secret? Open source collaboration. While corporations fought to lock users into walled gardens, Linux grew through innovation, adaptability, and a global community of developers who believed software should be free and unrestricted. Even tech giants that once dismissed it, Microsoft, Apple, and Google, now rely on Linux based systems to keep their services running.
Linux didn’t win with marketing hype. It won because it works.

Sometimes the self hate gets a hold on me. Sometimes it wins. Sometimes I pretend that I love me, but reality sets in.

"Does Boost for Lemmy work with Mastodon? Since both use ActivityPub, some interoperability is possible, but how well do they integrate? Can Boost for Lemmy browse Mastodon content or interact smoothly? Anyone tried it? #Lemmy #Mastodon #Fediverse #BoostForLemmy #ActivityPub #FOSS"
"Oh no you shouldn't use Brave because devs are homophobe!"
"Oh no you shouldn't use LibreWolf because devs are woke!"
Guess what? I use the software, not the devs
And anyways, I'll use whatever I want, it's my choice.
Just shared a recap of my FOSS Backstage 2025 presentation on open source adoption in Africa.
Read it on my blog at: https://joseph.zikusooka.com/?p=2617
I created a crib sheet for the #Helix text editor:
https://www.bobulous.org.uk/coding/Helix-crib-sheet.html
As usual I intended the new page to be compact and concise; and as usual it ended up being huge and rambling. Hopefully it'll still be of use to people who aren't fully familiar with the most useful keys and commands. (And just maybe of vague interest to #Neovim users who are thinking about trying Helix.)
Let me know if you spot anything incorrect.
awesome: Beastie/Leon McNeill just open sourced their Ultima III colour Macintosh port, all written in Think C!
This is the "Lairware" version that was sold at lairware.com, and received many updates over the years - eventually gaining OS X/Intel 32-bit support. The source appears to be an Xcode project with a mix of think C and cocoa.
great job, Leon!
