It's very expensive but I had a few reasons for choosing the Combustion Predictive Wireless Thermometer.
1. I find using a wired thermometer difficult when I have to turn the food
2. Using a predictive thermometer changes using a thermometer to something like a file transfer window where you get an estimate when it will be complete
3. This one can use, but doesn't need an app. I'm sick of apps, and that's a big deal to me.
4. The source code to their apps are FLOSS (MIT license) and they they expose a documented API and invite people to use it.
5. I've heard this company does customer service well, including replacing parts you may have broken yourself.
6. The owner of the company makes really informative Youtube videos on experimental cooking, sometimes he uses his thermometer, but not always. He seems genuine in caring about cooking.
All this makes me willing to pay more for his product vs some others.
