So..... do you think I can make modular origami polyhedra, but as a crocheted puzzle and not out of paper? I was assuming making it from tiny thread such as size 30 and thinner (wafer thin surface), then using starch to block each surface and probably sewing them into a final modular crochet piece? 🤔
In college we had a project in #math class with this book, 3D Geometric Origami: Modular Polyhedra by Rona Gurkewitz and Bennett Arnstein. store.doverpublications.com/pr

#Fabricademy bootcamp 2025
May 19→25

Don't miss this year's bootcamp in Brussels to encounter international fellows in the field of #textile, #engineering and #biology.

I am co-organizing it through the #fablab @GreenFabric and the #fabricademy team (@fabtextiles ).

A great opportunity to test Fabricademy themes and way of working through intense hands-on workshops. It will cover #biomaterials with #mycelium #fungi, #modulardesign, #machineknitting with the #kniterate machine, using the #opensourcehardware machines that we built, #etextile with thermochromic inks.

Don't miss also the #MakerFaire on the following week-end (May 26-27) with the Fabricademy exhibition of final projects and a workshop on #softrobotics.

Boosts are more than welcome!

I always have indecision paralysis when facing crafting options. Should I...?
- work on my ongoing thread doilies, 4 in progress
- create a border on a Handy Hands handkerchief
- finish the skirt fabric (t-shirt) yarn
- finish the jogging pants (rag rug) yarn
- make an anime character applique to send to my buddy in Portugal
- finish a Tunisian crochet headband with blue flowers
- finish making my dad's beanie in Oregon Ducks colors
🥺 ADHD, a blessing and a curse

🧶🧶🧶 Yay! The Mom Crème Anglaise sweater is at last done, delivered and mom-approved!

I learned so much making this. Lots of frogging back, switching yarns, switching patterns also. Settled on Valley Yarns Charlemont fingering and Cascade Baby Alpaca lace held together - dream combo. I love how the silk helps give the other fibers and the garment structure. Hooray, a #FO!

I was making this doily in size 20 Lizbeth thread (orig pattern for size 30) and finally found my fumbling guesstimation calculation scribblings I wrote when I made it the first time close to 2 decades ago (antique patterns aren't always straightforward). The pattern was from the old Antique Pattern Library nonprofit site. But when I checked last year you can only see the patterns by visiting the Internet Archive (Wayback Machine). #crochet #crafting #fiberarts #lacemaking
