PSA, you can now change the default translation app in iOS thus finally giving you the ability to translate highlighted text also in the languages Apple has not bothered with.
Also an opportunity to #EUAlternatives if you switch to DeepL , which is the only app I've found so far that supports being the default translation app, maybe @ueeu knows more.
Thank you @marcel_kolaja @echo_pbreyer and everyone else who made this happen.
Donations to The Debugger are temporarily down, which in the case of #Ghost rely on #Stripe by default. Now, Stripe decided to cancel The Debugger's account, just right after we published our article on #privacy . Coincidence? Probably yes. But we're looking for #onlinepayment alternatives out there, so if you have any suggestions (especially stuff that is not just Stripe or PayPal under the hood) they'll be much appreciated!

@mailbox_org Tip: @european_alternatives folgen! Und #boycottUSA. Ist einfacher als Rasseln mit Waffen-Narrativen.

Decision was made. I’ll move my #homelab domains from #Cloudflare to #Infomaniak. One by one upon reaching each renewal deadline. #Cloudflare is a little bit cheaper, but has a lot of stuff I’m not using and/or don’t want. #Infomaniak gives limited free email service with each domain and is #european. Also #infomaniak feels more like a good old web hosting with a modern UI, good documentation and additional perks. I like it so far.
The only #Cloudflare thing I’ll miss is an almost instant DNS records update considering how many ISPs and services rely on 1.1.1.1.

I’m poking around in #infomaniak email service and it is fantastic! I could have a separate user for my #selfhosted services who don’t have access to my personal emails. Nice web interface and very nice mobile app. I think I want to migrate from #Fastmail to have my emails in Europe. Also this is a good opportunity to also move my main email address into my personal domain, so I don’t bound to a specific email provider.

@molotovcockatiel no idea about the community, but it works beautifully as a steam replacement on linux :) cant give you any stats, but i feel it might be getting a bump in popularity due to #EUAlternatives movement
A follow-up to my toot about European navigation apps.
If you need to calculate a route from a PC/Mac, here are a few alternatives to Google Maps that you can use on your browser:
1. Here WeGo https://wego.here.com
2. Mapy.com https://mapy.com/en/
3. Osmand https://osmand.net/map/
[EDIT: found it - https://alternatives-in.uk/directory/. Thanks Neil!]
The "EU Alternatives" site is a really useful index of non-USA tech providers, but it sadly (yet understandably) excludes UK services: https://european-alternatives.eu/
I *know* I saw a (pretty sparsely populated) UK equivalent of that EU-focused site ... but I can't find it. Any ideas what I might be thinking of? #alternatives #EUalternatives #UKtech #UKalternatives
I’m a big proponent of using European alternatives to US big tech services, but as we’re switching all that over, can we try and not recreate the hellscape that we had?
I just looked at a promising eu alternative for online payment, and it wanted to let 86 advertising companies set cookies. Seriously, do better.

A o tym pisałem już wcześniej, ale dla przypomnienia:
Curious, has anyone bought and set up their #tech to be sourced as much as possible from #EUalternatives? What does that setup look like (e.g. phone, tablet, laptop, OS, apps)?
Starting my slow migration of my sites out of a US cloud provider and to #EUAlternatives
Not payed by them but Lidl, Fnac, Zalando, Krefel, Bol and many others are worthy Amazon alternatives. #fucknazis #oneeurope #eualternatives
I'm thinking of compiling a list of EU online shopping options to replace Amazon & Ebay.
We can't keep supporting an economy that eventually uses that capital to put people in charge who seek to destroy our core humanist and socialist values and probably have been pushing buttons for decades by hammering on lower taxes and less unions. If this is what Europe has to become then why did my granddad fought Hitler ?
So we need to stop sponsoring big tech but also big online retail, there are already sources for technical alternatives i'm looking for retail alternatives. Feel free to add them in the comments and boost.
I'm not using a search because searches are often localised, maybe there is something good in Sweden ( besides Ikea ) or Italy we haven't heard of and, it also might be good for the moral to see the actual list, eventually with sector and market capital.
Europe is not weak !
