#emulation

I have been testing some Nintendo Gameboy Advance emulators.

So far, Mesen and SkyEmu are the only two that get the audio correct in Road Rash - Jailbreak.

The engine noise in the game is annoying on a real GBA, but mGBA (which is normally quite accurate), has some distortion which makes it even more grating 🙉

If you can get past the engine sound it's a pretty fun entry in the series.

Maybe there are some niche #gamers out there who can answer this question for me.

If #BlueStacks exists so that you can #emulate an Android device on your computer, what's the point of BlueStacks recently coming out with a mobile app? Isn't that just playing on mobile with extra steps?

I was going to guess that it's so you can run Android apps on iProducts, but the app is only available on Android.

zen80 emulator UPDATE:

Published a detailed implementation status report and instruction set coverage for our Z80 emulator in Go.

github.com/ha1tch/zen80/blob/m

All documented Z80 instructions work correctly. Most undocumented features implemented, with some known gaps: IXH/IXL register access, simplified I/O flags, and a few edge cases in block instructions.

The emulator runs most Z80 software perfectly - it's only software relying on obscure undocumented behaviours that might have issues.
Full instruction-by-instruction breakdown now in the repo, with every opcode mapped to its implementation function and realistic status markers.

Something I love about #retroGaming is how, even after all these years, I can still find games I've never heard of.

Here's one called "The Mutant Virus: Crisis in Computer World" from 1992 for the #NES.

It's a top down shooter, but the enemy is a Conway's Game of Life automaton simulation! The goal is to neutralize the spreading virus turning it blue. A very unique concept I've not seen before!

The new dual screen attachments for the Retroid Pocket handheld are now able to be seen. To be shipped on the 15th of this month (August)

It's a bit clunky to my eyes, but I am very glad that more and more of these options are coming into existence now, for emulating #Nintendo #3DS and DS systems

The GameCube purple is a nice touch, I know the Retroid Pocket 4 is a huge winner, and very popular in the #RetroGaming / #emulation circles, but it never called to me too much

Still, nice to see!

Just discovered #RetroAssembly - an open-source, web-based retro 'game cabinet'

Upload ROMs, play in-browser, save/sync states across devices. Now they've got Docker support for self-hosting, too. Another little option for those who love #gaming with #emulation

Some of their recent updates:

• Dark mode
• Resume from last save
• Fullscreen mode
• MD5-based metadata matching

You can check their site here, I think this one's interesting:
