OK, what am I doing wrong? I'm far from an Elasticsearch expert. I am getting this message in my Mastodon admin dashboard, but when I try to run that command I get this error:

I'm running Elasticsearch 8.x and Mastodon 4.4.1.
'RAILS_ENV=production bundle exec bin/tootctl search deploy' works fine.

in a rewritten form, which is now leaning more heavily on docker and rust — but that's all under the hood and you won't even notice it :)

I built a new Ruby gem for work and released the first version today. It's a query builder for Elastic's ES|QL.
It lets you build ES|QL queries in Ruby code by chaining functions and run them with Elastic's ES|QL query API.

Is #ElasticSearch returning 404 for /_doc/X/whatever an implementation detail, or is this behavior documented as expected?
#ElasticSearch is a fantastic indexing engine which offers full text searching of anything, such as federated posts and users.
It would be SOOOO lovely if it didn't just randomly crash every month or two, requiring a full reindex of 44 million records which takes 7 hours to complete though...
