Progress is picking up for #OpenCrystalCaves, level 1 is largely done and moving on to level 3. #CrystalCaves has a lot of wacky features, like this air pipe that sucks the player in and can kill you, or this red mushroom which makes the player invincible, so there are still many mechanics to add!

I don't recommend Shadowcaster (1993). It's interesting technologically (as it uses engine that's been described as halfway between Doom and Wolfenstein 3D) but the combat is incredibly boring, being limited to mostly mashing the attack button and hoping you kill whatever you're fighting before it kills you. And the combat makes up 90% of the game.
IBM DOS 3.30 is surprisingly capable, but unfortunately it only supports partition sizes of up to 32MB. This is annoying!
After a few weeks of procrastination, I finally took the time to read up on how to use EDLIN.COM. There's simply no way around it if you want to work with early versions of DOS from the 80s.
This here is me adding a few new lines to the AUTOEXEC.BAT of an IBM DOS 3.30. It ain't much, but it works!

Is there any real mode Objective-C compiler for #DOS? I know about djgpp. Or any DOS compilers beside djgpp?
I don't need the NeXTstep / GNUstep / MacOS X library functions, just core language + classes.
