@insl Generally yes, but while you can package everything into a .deb, getting it accepted into #Debian (and I assume similar for #Devuan) is a different thing. There's a reason why the #UbuntuTouch @ubports people were super happy and proud when they managed to get Lomiri accepted into Debian; and it's that reason why GNOME Shell Mobile is not in @mobian (afaik).
Maybe Debian/Mobian contributors can chime in here :-)

So I'm thinking of installing Devuan as an experiment. To see if I can live without systemd. I'm fairly certain most of my activity flow does not have a hard dependency on systemd, but systemd does make some things more convenient.
My preferred non-systemd init is OpenRC, but I like Dinit and Runit as well. Devuan offers a choice of OpenRC or Runit. I'll choose OpenRC.

Der Midnight Commander (mc) hat mir mal auf F3 auf ein JPG dessen Exif-Daten angezeigt. Das macht er jetzt nicht mehr. Die Suchmaschine will mir nur zeigen, wie ich die eigentlichen Bilder anzeigen kann. mc.ext.ini hab ich gesagt:

@opensuse I used to be an #openSUSE #Leap user until it was announced that the distro will switch to an immutable system. Thus, I migrated all my #Linux machines to #Devuan 5 (based on #Debian 12 without #systemd). It's #stable and #rocksolid distro with great #community support. Never looked back

Wurde bei GIMP in Debian/Devuan in den letzten paar Tagen was geändert? Ich hatte kein Update wahrgenommen und nichts an den Einstellungen geändert, aber die Darstellung ist seit heute anders (keine Werkzeuge mehr links und rechts des Bildes), und der Werkzeugkasten geht nicht mehr auf, weder auf Mausklick noch mit Ctrl-B.
I ran into an interesting issue with one of my laptops: sleeping seems to consume *more* battery than when it's on usual work.
Using it for about 1h from a full charge -> 12% decrease.
Sleeping for 20~30 minutes -> 20% decrease.
I also noticed that now the bottom of the laptop remains warm similar to light usage even though it's presumably "sleeping," where previously it cooled back to room temperature.
What could be going on? OS is #Devuan Ceres
EDIT: OK, ich hab pulseaudio nachinstalliert und es funktioniert. Mozilla sagt auf der Website, daß Firefox jetzt zwingend PulseAudio für Sound braucht. Na von mir aus. Ich hoffe mal, daß es keine Zusammenstöße mit anderen Programmen gibt …

Seit der Umstellung von Firefox 115.x aus dem Devuan-Repo auf Firefox 127 aus dem Mozilla-Repo habe ich keinen Sound mehr im Firefox. Das änderte sich auch nicht nach einer kompletten Neuinstallation des Systems (nicht aus diesem Grund; Firefox wiederum aktuell aus dem Mozilla-Repo). VLC und mplayer spielen Klänge ab, und im alsamixer ist auch alles aufgedreht.
Die Suchmaschine sagt was von pulseaudio. Hab ich bisher erfolgreich vermieden, weil ich damit früher™ mal schlechte Erfahrungen gemacht hatte. Und: FF 115 brauchte das doch auch nicht?
Ansonsten betreffen die meisten Hinweise Ubuntu, das dafür wohl nochmal eigene Tools mitbringt. Hat das in der Kombination schonmal jemand gelöst?
So I think I finally found out why in one of my #Devuan #Unstable installs #apt fails to check signatures of packages (or so I hope).
It seems that apt's sig checking function is outsourced to the gpgv (not gpg) program, whose restricted usage is solely to check signatures. In the "broken" 2.2.40 version, apt passes some invalid command-line argumments resulting in failure. But in v2.2.43 this doesn't happen anymore. Not sure if this is surely the cause, but it's getting warmer.
Seit meinem Upgrade auf Devuan Daedalus (entspricht Debian 12) benutzt mc, wenn ich auf einem Bild <return> drücke, nicht mehr feh, sondern imagemagick für die Darstellung. Ich hätte gerne feh wieder an dieser Stelle. Ich hab schon mehrfach gesucht, aber keinen brauchbaren Hinweis darauf gefunden, wo ich mc verklickern kann, welchen Viewer er bitteschön für Bilddateien zu benutzen hat. Eine Erklärung hat mich quer durch /etc und /usr gescheucht, und am Ende hat's doch nicht funktioniert.
