You can run Kdenlive on the Steam Deck.

Step 1: Enter Desktop mode on the Steam Deck

Step 2: Launch Discovery, the Steam Deck app store.

Step 3: Search for "Kdenlive" within Discovery

Step 4: Click the "Install" button

We watched "Late Night with the Devil" (2023) tonight. I posted a #5SecondMovieReview of it earlier. We enjoyed it.

However... one little thing about it is nagging at me, like a splinter in the mind's eye.

It's a period piece, set in the #1970s. The major thread of the story includes a psychologist and her sessions with a patient, which are #recorded. Part of one is played back as part of a #television show, and onscreen during that #playback is an open-reel (aka reel-to-reel) #tape #deck playing a tape.

I can't shake the feeling that whoever put the visual together has never actually seen an open-reel tape recorder in operation. This picture is lousy, because it's a screencap from the movie, which is supposed to be showing a television broadcast in good old analog SD - but it gets the point across.

See anything wrong?

The takeup #reel, on the right, turns clockwise, the opposite direction of the (normal) direction of the supply reel. So the tape wraps onto the inner side of the takeup reel, and ends up "inside out".

There's also no tension arm on the supply side, and an apparent #tension arm on the takeup side, but it's not actually in the tape path.

I don't think any machines were actually made like this, but I'm not an #expert. Can anyone identify the deck they butchered or digi-simmed to create this #sin against nature? 😉

The scene this is taken from shows the playback of the tape. The tape unspools from the left-hand supply reel counter-clockwise normally, but the takeup reel on the right-hand side turns clockwise, with the tape passing to the left of the center axis of the reel. I'm not aware of any decks that actually work this way. There are other oddities too, like no tension arm on the supply side, an apparent tension arm on the takeup side but which is not actually in the tape path, and various other weirdnesses.

Ich wünschte mir manchmal, jemand ginge durch die Kern-Apps und sorgte dafür, dass alle Grundfunktionen vorhanden sind und auf die gleiche Art funktionieren:
👉 Alle Apps haben andere Export/Import-Funktionen.
👉 Alle Apps gehen unterschiedlich mit App-Foldern um.
👉 Manche Apps können Federation, andere nicht.

Besoin d'un petit coup de main pour le boulot. Vendredi dernier des collègues ont commencé à parler d'utiliser Trello pour un projet. Jles ai rattrapées in extremis avec un "ouiiiiii mais on a deck sur notre cloud attendez j'étudie la question".

Faut donc que j'étudie la question ce matin 😅

Aurez vous sous le coude de la doc (si possible en français, sinon anglais) sur une prise en main user friendly de Deck installé sur un Nextcloud ?

It's changed (2015 looks to be more current) but appears you need guards on decks more than 30 inches above grade in the International Residential Code (IRC). Thus, the "one floor above and drop into the jungle" is absolutely a safety hazard, and not code compliance. ("Guard required if more than 30 inches") #deck #safety
