Here is a not-so-great image of the Orange-crowned Warbler from last week. They migrate through on their way to Canada and to western mountains. They are small, blandly colored and have a quiet song/call. It is almost always an accident when I stumble across them - seeing a bit of movement and tracking it down.

My rules for bird/nature photography:

Get out there.
Carry a camera.
Take photos.
Enjoy the opportunity to learn.

'Bücher' - Gerade die alten mögen trocken nach Staub riechen, aber sie bereichern alle Sinne. In den alten Geschichten lesen, die alten, manchmal brüchigen Seiten knistern hören, wenn man vorsichtig umblättert, die alte, so seltsam anmutende Sprache erleben... Eine ganz eigene Freude!

We had our first Ruby-throated Hummingbird (a male) at the feeder this morning, after putting the feeder out just yesterday.

Continuing on the theme of hummingbirds, here is an old shot of a ruby visiting with a Coopers Hawk.

This is an example of not planning ahead on my part, so I did not have the camera set to "neutral" after a manual shot so I could not reset fast enough on the fly to get everything in focus.

Now that I'm learning a bit more about #DarkTable, I think it serves the role I'm currently using #PhotoPrism for (archive of every photo regardless of quality) and the GPS/MetaData correction tool I was trying to build myself.

I think I'd be happy going back to using a native app for cataloguing files on a NAS, and leave the web UI for only stuff I've filtered down to "yes this is good actually" post-processed stuff I might actually want to share with people.

This solves a few problems!
