Ciao, Goeie, Hello everyone! 🐦‍🔥

Some information about me and my work! I grew up in a nature reserve in Frisia, where my early interest in observing and documenting the world around me began.

I studied art at the Royal Art Academy in The Hague and Philosophy at the University of Groningen.

My art is displayed in several museum collections, and I have participated in various exhibitions and artist residencies across Europe.

After working full-time in printmaking for over 20 years, I began incorporating photography into my practice six years ago.

My work exists between the realms of photography and printmaking, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques.

In my ongoing project Orlando, I reimagine Virginia Woolf’s Orlando, using conversation and photography to explore the nuances of human identity beyond stereotypes and traditional representations.

I see photography as a powerful research tool, merging its evidential nature with emotional and human perspectives.

Collaboration is central to my practice, and for the project Fûgels, I work with artists, writers, activists, and scientists, exploring ways to combine activism, environmentalism, art, and science into an artistic project.

A thread on a little #Conceptual #Art #History, with a touch of #Ambient music and #Geopolitics . In 1999 some artists set up a spoof #NATO propaganda operation called NATOarts (www.natoarts.com). It was all a bit tongue-in-cheek, using the language of euroatlantic security and NATO's institutional legitimacy to say something (what exactly?) about that moment at the end of history. It was a shiny, name-badgey, international trade-punk artistic exercise wrapped in a plausible story.

Time Travel: obscure & cryptic little ad in Artforum Magazine from 45 years ago proves more relevant today than back in 1980.

#Scientific #research, #spiritual #quest, or #conceptual #art, it's an invitation to make contact with Time Travelers — or Visitors from the Future(s) — at what some call a landing reception. Today, the ongoing work of The Krononaut Moon Project continues at full steam on #Mastodon & #Fediverse.

The historic ad appeared in the magazine's 1980 Jan issue, announcing a gathering to occur two years later on 1982 Mar 09, inviting #Krononauts or #TimeTravelers to beam down to #Baltimore #MD #US. The hundreds of attendees at the night's festivities were documented by a #NYTimes #newspaper reporter. Later, others would organize their own inter-dimensional meet-ups in #Perth #AU, #MIT #US, and #Cambridge #UK. (All were landing receptions of type-1.0. Baltimore's event was timed for a full #Moon & a rare #planetary alignment in 1982, known to #astronomers as a #syzygy. It was the prototype for today's more evolved type-2.0 "experimentations, observations & celebrations" taking place under the shadow of the #TotalLunarEclipse — the night of the #KrononautMoon. There will be 3 #TLEclipses in 2025 & 2026, with the next one coming up on 2025 Mar 14 #UTC 07:00, barely months away.

Original size is 4.5 x 2.5-inches. The message is that it's inviting readers to a "reception" or "landing party" for #TimeTravelers, or #Krononauts, that was scheduled for 2 years after the publication date of the magazine. The ad also includes phone numbers and a PO box which are all long-defunct now. The irony / humor / concept is that we are looking at this from 45 years in its future, just as real Time Travelers will one day look at it from a more distant future(s), and they could elect to travel back to #Baltimore #MD #US on 1982 Mar 09. This kind of documentation (now on #Mastodon & #Fediverse) is crucial to the successful operation of the experiment.
