I'm looking for an artist who can turn details from photos of about 10-15 paintings and sculptures into clear B&W line drawings for printing in a book. Artist should be proficient in Gothic art and familiar with late medieval/renaissance material culture eg. from a background in living history or the SCA or costuming. My budget is not huge but I can pay. Not sure what hashtags to use. #boostsAppreciated

I and @YaroST12@mastodon.social are forking the Clear Linux kernel patchset (yes, you've read that right)

We both maintain the linux-clear AUR package (
https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/linux-clear) and when we heard the news that Intel is shutting down their Clear Linux distribution (https://community.clearlinux.org/t/all-good-things-come-to-an-end-shutting-down-clear-linux-os/10716), we were both disappointed as it would mean that we wouldn't be able to maintain and update our package.

As a result, we've decided to fork the patchset. Unfortunately, we will not be able to maintain it ourselves and need help from others. If you have experience with kernel development and are interested, please contribute!

Our fork:

Boosts are appreciated!

I'm looking for good primers on perceptual hashing algorithms. Do you know any? Can you boost to help me find someone who does? :neodog_pleading:

Context is that in
#mediathing people may have the same content but with different encodings. E.g. 1080p and 720p copies of Amélie are still the same movie. I'd prefer not to ask people to maintain manual mappings of this (e.g. associating sha256 hashes) because even though spiritually it makes some sense, it's really just toil and media-thing isn't about toil. I think a perceptual hash is probably what I'm looking for because this isn't meant to be used for content identity. It's just to assist people matching their library overlap. But if there's a better technique I'd be very curious to hear about it!

Got to ask: What do you think is a better overall choice for a general purpose tablet form factor device: one that runs a mobile OS (and therefore is probably well familiar with the interface and hardware its working with), or one that runs a full, actual OS like Linux/Win (and therefore is far more flexible and customizable)?

🚨 :OSI: The work of @osuosl is at risk as US academic funding faces historic challenges. The Lab hosts infra for over 1000 #FOSS projects, and uses the opportunity to train students in critical #DevOps skills. Nothing comes close to the value that OSL provides the global #OpenSource community.

If you or your employer can help support this critical work, check their website for donation and contact info.

:OSI: It's been a month now, and the global #OpenSource community still hasn't seen the unaltered results of the recent Open Source Initiative board of directors election. Now more than ever, the world needs technology stewards we can trust. Secrets and silence weaken our shared mission.

✒️ I've joined in signing this open letter calling for the release of the full results. Will you sign on, too?
