Why does it feel like we refuse to localize Go? There are so many terms that you have to learn a foreign language to say and people wonder why this really fun board game isn't spreading in the west. We localized chess for everyone, why can't we do the same for Go? Joseki is now movement, Atari is now trapping, kifu is now score cards. Fight me.
The pro game collection in SmartGo One has been updated with over 2,000 new games, for a total of over 130,000 games. The names dictionary lists over 4,700 entries.
The increased number of games makes this old blog post on searching for pro games even more relevant:

"There are so many shapes deriving from the basic comb shape that covering it fully is beyond the scope of a proverbs book."
-Power, "Essential Go Proverbs", which is over 500 pages long
SmartGo One 2.3.5 is mostly a bug fix update, but also adds a setting for showing the SGF circle property as a circle instead of a dot, a frequently requested change. It now defaults to circle on stones, dot on empty points (Settings > Board Display > Circle as Dot). You can also mark the most recent move with a circle, as you may be used to from some other apps (Settings > Board Display > Move Numbering, or just tap on the board with two fingers for quick view adjustments).
The most recent episode of the usually excellent “All Things Go” podcast features an interview with me. Still pretty good.

When you go to gobooks.com, you’ll also notice a new book: “Mastering Basic Corner Shapes” by Young Sun Yoon. Available on the web, still waiting for Apple’s approval on the App Store. More about that when it’s approved.
* #JuegosDeMesa, en general
* #Baduk en particular
* Hacer cosas con mis manos (siempre mal)
* #CienciaFicción (en forma de #libros )
* La #Fantasía digo que no me gusta, pero últimamente estoy leyendo bastante #LowFantasy.
* #Programación (aparte de que me gusta, tengo la suerte de que es lo que me paga el sueldo)
* Fallar en aprender idiomas (ruso, coreano, guaraní; al menos puedo leer cirílico y hangul fonéticamente, eso me quedó)
* Política de países donde no vivo y donde lo que pase no me va a afectar.
* #VideoJuegos algunos, en general puzzles y últimamente puzzles de programación (Zachtronics)
Cosas que me vas a ver publicar:
* Sobre juegos de mesa
* Chistes muy boludos
* Quejas sobre política uruguaya (intento ponerle CW a eso, no siempre me acuerdo)
Políticamente me considero centrista, en cuanto a que no creo que haya que ejecutar a los grandes capitalistas, sino mandarlos a campos de reeducación como hizo Mao con Puyi.

Yesterday’s update to SmartGo One lets you create your own EPUBs: take any annotated game, view it as a book, then export as EPUB. Good stuff. Except in Europe all the diagrams are empty thanks to the following bug:
r="11.5" (in the US)
r="11,5" (in Europe)
Will be fixed.

The #Godot front-end for my #baduk came right together. Looking at adding OGS (which I finally got working in my library) and GTP engine support in the coming days. https://gitlab.com/b4ux1t3/WeiqiSharp/-/tree/main/WeiqiSharp.Godot
Note that it's a #DotNet / #CSharp, godot-mono project, not a GDScript one.
I'm stillnot happy with the export support in Godot 4, but that's not going to stop me from using one of the best UI libraries to date. ;)
Oh, if you want to use/contribute. . .make sure you read the readme :)
@zenorogue Kiiind of related: I just learnt about "coupon go", a variant of go. When it's their turn to play, players can either play a normal go move, or give up their turn in exchange for a certain number of bonus points that will be added to their final score.
Apparently researchers had professional players play that version of go and then studied the games to give a quantitative estimate of the value of go moves. This was before AI go, of course.

One-colour Go is such a wild concept to me.
I do understand it's not all memorisation. Memorisation is typically never the answer for this sort of things.
